Sounds Like
Mountainous alternative riffage from antipodean groovesters. A superb, unstoppable juggernaut where the guitars are tar-thick and the grooves positively subterranean. KKKK – Kerrang! (UK)
Like a massive landslide with smooth caramel in between the rocks, Winterun’s sound will caress and bludgeon you at the same time – BEAT
Whisky-harsh, lager-smooth – HELLRIDE MUSIC (USA)
Chunky guitars and sludgy grooves … a classic style for troubled times. – BLUNT
The music is heavier and groovier, the production is fat and the artwork is awesome – DAREDEVIL RECORDS (GERMANY)
This is to be embraced by the alternative scene: local and international – MAG
Hypnotic waves of fuzz… Into the Underground, Winterun’s strongest effort to date – BLISTERING
The lads have certainly been having their breakfast, a potent mix of Weetbix and cement – RAVE
A scruffy roguish attitude, the Han Solo of stoner rock – STONERROCK.COM
It kicks and snarls and threatens to overwhelm… back come the wicked little lead breaks, though, melting and cajoling, teasing and rolling – INPRESS
Incredibly punchy stuff – BUZZ
If you’re into solid, beefy rock you’ve come to the right place. Highly recommended – MP3.COM.AU
One of Australia’s hidden gems – METALFORGE
These Melbourne lads are true testament to good and hard Aussie pub rock – TSUNAMI
Below the shallows of mainstream music there lies an alternative scene running rich and deep. Having spent the last five years building a strong clan within this healthy community in Australia and abroad, Winterun now lure you Into The Underground.
Following on from the success of The Full Effect (2004) and Welcome To… (2006), Winterun have captured their live energy with album number three. Into The Underground sounds like a truckload of logs set loose down a mountainside. It’s a rolling blend of infectious heavy rock - chockfull of chunky riffs, grooves and stomp.
Into The Underground was recorded by Neil Thomason at Head Gap Studios (Magic Dirt, The Slits, Batrider) and mixed/mastered by Paul Fox (Deftones, Dirty Three, Nation Blue). The album was tracked onto two inch tape, giving it a thick analogue sound - adding extra depth to Winterun’s heavy grooves.
Winterun remain proudly independent with distribution in Australia through Amphead Music, in Europe through Undertow Records and worldwide through digital distributors The Orchard (iTunes).
An international following has been generated through strong online marketing, reviews in foreign press, airplay on overseas radio and inclusion on internationally released compilations.
Winterun’s relentless live presence has seen them headline nationwide and support some of Australia’s finest rock bands including Rocket Science, The Butterfly Effect, Mammal, Peeping Tom, Rollerball, Fort, Frankenbok and Dreadnaught. With their formidable live set and the new album as ammunition, Winterun plan to tour Europe. In the meantime, they’ll continue burning up the road across Australia touring Into The Underground and the first single Stompa.

Doom will never die, DOOMRAISER too! As one door closes, another opens. Valerio has decided to leave the band; he wants to concentrate more on his other projects. We all wish Valerio the best of luck with his new vocation. He was, and remains, a formidable guitarist and was an integral part of DOOMRAISER.
However, it is with great pleasure that DOOMRAISER announce that Valerio’s replacement is to be none other than our good friend and brother, the fearsomely talented musician Willer. He played bass with evil blacksters Grimness and he’s involved in Black Land, an awesome and obscure heavy psychedelic band from Rome. Practices have been going very well, and Willer is already adding a new, acid and exciting dimension to the band as a whole. His first gig will be at Sinister Noise Club in Rome on the 21th November: a special and drunken night celebrating the birthday of one of the most important Italian underground rock scene club!
