Influences
Might be easier to list who ISN'T an influence! We like all genres and aren't afraid to try 'em and/or mix 'em.
"WORK IN PROGRESS" is a group of seven friends and musicians that has a blast sharing a repertoire that spans the stylistic spectrum of American music and beyond, occasionally visiting the British Isles, Eastern Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. Whether drawing from an ever-expanding body of original material or playing other artists' blues, jazz, folk, classical, bluegrass or pop creations, "WORK IN PROGRESS" delivers a performance filled with fun, passion and fearlessness. This is a band that isn't afraid to put their own spin on a familiar song, to create vocal harmonies where there were none or to juxtapose styles in a way that stops people in their tracks. Whether folks are music aficionados, casual listeners or just out for a good time, they leave a "WORK IN PROGRESS" show knowing they have experienced something satisfying and unique. "WORK IN PROGRESS" has something for everybody!
Hey WIP--great show Friday at Campus Martius. You made it hard to go back to work! I think you must have the most eclectic CD ever made. If someone can't find something they like on there, they're not normal! Definitely not boring. Just when you think you've heard it all---wham! Another style out of the blue!
