What happens when Pop explodes?
Does it leave a sticky film over everything, or a scattering of candy and small toys? Does it make a sound like a million hands clapping in time, or a Sears amp feeding back?
And if it explodes in Wisconsin, at what temperature does it freeze?
The Wisconsin Pop Explosion is here to explore these questions and more. Wisconsin Pop Explosion is a collective of musicians and artists based in Madison, dedicated to putting on out of the ordinary events and making unique artifacts.
Events are promoted through traditional news sources and grassroots word-of-mouth. The collective works to lessen the artificial borders between creators, pooling musicians, visual artists, crafters and others to help make the creative process as DIY as possible. This can mean not only home recordings, handmade posters and record covers, but pinatas, clothing, cupcakes or whatever - all with a desire to create are welcome.
Wisconsin Pop Explosion's goals are to catalyze and document creativity, especially surrounding pop music, and make a night out at one's favorite club more fun and interactive for audiences and performers alike.
