David Matthew Hicks, an Australian, was in US custody at the Guantanamo military prison in Cuba and held for more than five years since being captured in Afghanistan. In March, 2007 David was finally charged, retrospectively, with "material support for terrorism". After an extorted confession of guilt he was sentenced to 7 years further imprisonment, of which 6 years and 3 months was suspended. On the 20th of May, David was transported to Adelaide's Yatala prison to serve his nine-month sentence. He was finally released on December 29, 2007.
