Love Dhani Harrison and his band "thenewno2"? Then you'll want to visit his killer forum over here:
"I believe in everything until it's disproved. So I believe in fairies, the myths, dragons. It all exists, even if it's in your mind. Who's to say that dreams and nightmares aren't as real as the here and now?"
~John Lennon
"Good friends are like stars...
You don't always see them, but you always
know they're there."
"It is said, and it is true, that just before we are born,
a cavern angel puts his finger to our lips and says,
“Hush, don’t tell what you know.”
This is why we are born with a cleft on our upper lips
and remembering nothing of where we came from."
-Roderick MacLeish, “Prince Ombra”
From "Angels All Around Us."
“Each of us carries, etched in our hearts,
instructions that read,’Come home, come home.’”
“We didn’t think this love would be human, with soft eyes and beautiful
hands. We’re thrown off by his profession, or her freckles, or his past. We
didn’t expect love to awaken our biggest fears and insecurities and doubts.
We thought it would bring more immediate comfort. And so we wanted it, but
we didn’t. When you’ve lived in the dungeon for a very long time, the light,
when you see it, actually hurts your eyes.”
-Marianne Williamson, Enchanted Love
“My life is full of mistakes. They’re like pebbles that make a good road.”
-Beatrice Wood
“The jump is so frightening between where I am and where I want to be. But for all I may become, I will close my eyes and leap.”
“The cross, though: Was it Lenny Bruce who said that if Jesus had been
killed in modern times, we Christians would all go around wearing little
electric chairs on chains around our necks?”
“Actually, backwards is just as rich as forward if you can appreciate the
circle instead of the
direction.”
-Anne Lamott, Operating Instructions
“We either make ourselves miserable,
or we make ourselves strong.
The amount of work is the same.”
-Castaneda
"Laugh often, live well, love much."
"Love is touch, touch is love.
Love is reaching, reaching love.
Love is asking to be loved."
-John Lennon
"All that is gold does not glitter,
Not all those who wander are lost;
The old that is strong does not wither,
Deep roots are not reached by frost."
-JRR Tolkien
Child of the pure, unclouded brow
And dreaming eyes of wonder!
Though time be fleet and I and thou
Are half a life asunder,
Thy loving smile will surely hail
The love-gift of a fairy-tale.
—LEWIS CARROLL
"Hey, it's a thingy. A fiendish thingy!"
-George Harrison
Remember the five simple rules to be happy :
1. Free your heart from hatred.
2. Free your mind from worries.
3. Live simply.
4. Give more.
5. Expect less.
No one can go back and make a brand new start. Anyone can start from
now and make a brand new ending. God didn't promise days without pain,
laughter without sorrow, sun without rain, but He did promise strength
for the day, comfort for the tears, and light for the way.
Disappointments are like road bumps, they slow you down a bit but you
enjoy the smooth road afterwards. Don't stay on the bumps too long.
Move on!
When you feel down because you didn't get what you want, just sit tight
and be happy, because God has thought of something better to give you.
When something happens to you, good or bad, consider what it means.
There's a purpose to life's events, to teach you how to laugh more or
not to cry too hard.
You can't make someone love you, all you can do is be someone who can be
loved, the rest is up to the person to realize your worth. It's better
to lose your pride to the one you love, than to lose the one you love because
of pride.
We spend too much time looking for the right person to love or finding
fault with those we already love, when instead we should be perfecting the
love we give.
Never abandon an old friend. You will never find one who can take
his/her place. Friendship is like wine, it gets better as it grows older.
"What wisdom can you find that is greater than kindness?"
"Take the first step in faith. You don't have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step."
"We are not human beings on a spiritual journey. We are spiritual beings on a human journey."
"To love and be loved is to feel the sun from both sides."
"Happiness is not a destination. It is a method of life."
"No dreamer is ever too small; no dream is ever too big."
"He who knows all the answers has not yet been asked all the questions."
"Here Comes the Sun...
...and it's all right."
On the OTHER hand...
"12 New Rules for the New Year" by Bill Maher
======================================
New Rule ..1: Stop giving me that pop-up ad for Classmates. com ! There's
a reason you don't talk to people for 25 years. Because you don't
particularly like them! Besides, I already know what the captain of
the football team is doing these days: mowing my lawn.
New Rule ..2: Don't eat anything that's served to you out a window unless
you're a seagull. People are acting all shocked that a human finger
was found in a bowl of Wendy's chili. Hey, it cost less than a dollar.
What did you expect it to contain? Trout? Luckily, it was only a finger!
If it was a whole hand, Congress would have voted to keep it
alive.
New Rule ..3: Stop saying that teenage boys who have sex with their hot,
blonde teachers are permanently damaged. I have a better description
for these kids: lucky $%^&^*^**(*(s!
New Rule ..4: Ladies, leave your eyebrows alone. Here's how much men
Care about your eyebrows: do you have two of them? Okay, we're done.
New Rule ..5: There's no such thing as flavored water. There's a whole
aisle of this crap at the supermarket, water, but without that watery
taste. Sorry, but flavored water is called a soft drink. You want
flavored water? Pour some scotch over ice and let it melt. That's
your flavored water.
New Rule ..6: The more complicated the Starbucks order, the bigger the
asshole. If you walk into a Starbucks and order a " decaf grande half-soy,
half-low fat, iced vanilla, double-shot, gingerbread cappuccino , extra dry,
light ice, with one Sweet-n'-Low and one NutraSweet ," ooh , you're a huge asshole.
New Rule ..7: Just because your tattoo has Chinese characters in it
doesn't make you spiritual. And it translates to "beef with broccoli." The
last time you did anything spiritual, you were praying to God you weren't pregnant.
You're not spiritual. You're just high.
New Rule ..8: Competitive eating isn't a sport. It's one of the seven
deadly sins. ESPN recently televised the US Open of Competitive
Eating, because watching those athletes at the poker table was just too
damned exciting. What's next, competitive farting ? Oh wait. They're already
doing that. It's called "The Howard Stern Show."
New Rule ..9: If you're going to insist on making movies based on crappy,
old television shows, then you have to give everyone in the Cineplex
a remote so we can see what's playing on the other screens. Let's remember
the reason something was a television show in the first place, is the idea
wasn't good enough to be a movie.
New Rule ..10: No more gift registries. You know, it used to be just for
weddings. Now it's for babies and new homes and graduations from
rehab. Picking up the stuff you want and having other people buy it
for you isn't gift giving, it's the rich people version of looting.
New Rule ..11: This one is long overdue. No more bathroom attendants.
After I zip up, some guy is offering me a towel and a mint like I
just had sex with George Michael. I can't even tell if he's supposed to be
there, or just some freak with a fetish. I don't want to be on your web cam,
dude. I just want to wash my hands.
New Rule ..12: When I ask how old your toddler is, I don't need to know in
months: "27 Months." "He's two," will do just fine. He's not a cheese. And I
didn't really care in the first place.
live well, laugh often, love much
Music
Love almost all types of music - everything except heavy metal, rap, and country. Classic Rock is my favorite, and I love 60s and 70s stuff. The Beatles are my absolute luvs. George Harrison, especially...lovely gifts from him. And now his beautiful son, Dhani & his band making more magic for the world with 'thenewno2.'
I love Tori Amos, Stevie Nicks, Fiona Apple, Norah Jones, ... those ethereal, yet earthy ladies. Evanescence's song "My Immortal" leaves my soul feeling reamed (how did they *know*?). Yes they're very cool. Dusty Springfield rocks on. And oh, Anoushka Shankar. I'm so happy to have discovered my growing love for Indian music through her and her dad, Ravi. Soo beautiful and hypnotic and enriching.
Also love some new age music - the stuff they play on The Weather Channel! Has it's own atmosphere, and you just have to give it a try. I also love random songs I hear, not necessarily the bands/groups who do them. Anything that bends my own heart strings. More on that later...for now, enjoy a piece of Heaven:
if you don't know this band, you're seriously deprived...
this is a very interesting video, to say the least. but mostly i posted it because i ADORE the music...
History of the World, Part 1...American President...Close Encounters of the Third Kind...A Hard Day's Night...Help!...Ferris Bueller's Day Off...Prancer...Breakfast Club...Airforce One...Airplane...The Terminal (do I sense a theme?)...Monty Python and the Holy Grail - oh, hell, all the Monty Python thingies...EDDIE IZZARD! *mwah!*...Comedians of all sorts, especially Lewis Black, George Carlin, Eddie Murphy, Richard Pryor, Bill Cosby, Denis Leary, Dennis Miller, Howie Mandel, Chris Rock...yesh, I do luv to laugh.
OH and all those scary paranormal movies with wild special effects - I LOVE those! ...to be continued!
Television
Luv all those old reruns like "Emergency!" ... "All in the Family" ... "Cosby Show" ... "Fresh Prince of Bel Air" (I luv Will Smith, and CARLTON!!) ... "Roseanne" ...(so Nick@Nite is def a staple). Also luv anything that makes me laugh, like the bloopers shows (especially the ones featuring real newspeople) and America's Funniest Videos...and my new discovery "Jackass" - I'm sorry, but those guys are just plain HILARIOUS! I have to guiltily accept the fact that one part of my funny bone just never grew up, and immature crude humor still never fails to crack me up. I'm not easily offended and love naughty humor - *insert waggling eyebrows here*! I luv a good fart joke and I can burp as well as any guy. XD
I can watch UFO or paranormal stories for hours on Discovery. Anything related to Astronomy or the weather catches me too. I luv to learn stuff. The workings of the human body are amazing when shown on tv. I also luv to watch anything about space, physics, time travel, 'why are we here' stuff, bible history, nostradamus, atlantis, bermuda triangle...all that kinda stuff grabs me.
OH and some guilty pleasures include HGTV and TLC's "What Not to Wear." When I'm in an especially indulgent mood, I'll watch "Super Sweet Sixteen" or "The Hills" on MTV, or "America's Next Top Model" on VH1. ha!
How I wish they'd bring back the reruns of the old 70s tv variety show, "Donny & Marie." I grew up watching them and I still have a soft spot in my heart for them. <3
Books
I'll read just about anything that isn't trash or gossip...same as my interests: Astronomy, paranormal/ufo, Beatles. Don't much like fiction at the moment, but I won't rule it out if it's a subject I'm interested in.
