Interests

  • General

I am interested in volunteering, hanging with friends, throwing dinner parties, traveling, singing bad karaoke, and loving my family!

  • Music

.. Missy Elliot, Beyonce, and if I am in a Hair Band From the 80's mood...Bon Jovi!
I also like to chill to Indigo Girls, Patty Griffin and Kelly Clarkson. Ok, Ok, in addition to my Rock and Roll obsession - I also like Chick Music.

  • Movies

.. I like Chick Flicks to go along with my Chick Music and I also like cool independent movies like 'Little Miss Sunshine' and 'Half Nelson'

  • Television

.. It's a toss up between Grey's Anatomy, Lost, Entourage, and Amazing Race. Weird mix I know but that's just the kind of girl I am.

  • Books

.. I LOVE all poetry by E.E. Cummings - If you haven't read any of that yet - RUN don't walk to the nearest bookstore. And I am also a big fan of Steve Martin's writing (Shop Girl) and I gotta give a shout out to my girl Marrianne Willamson for writing some good spiritual books that get you through tough times!

  • Heroes

.. There are so many. Really. I find heroes every day in my life. The girl who writes me and e-mails and says she wants to change her life and recover from her eating disorder - she is a hero to me. I love bold, courageous people who put their full heart and soul out there. Of course, Ghandi is one of my all time heroes - as he said "Be the Change you wish to see in the world" and that is a motto I try to live by everyday!

   Jessica Weiner's Books

Here is an excerpt from my newest book:
Life Doesn't Begin 5 Pounds From Now

Fat Is Not a Feeling

It's not. It is not an emotion. Pain, anger, joy, sadness -- those are emotions. Fat has just become a catchall phrase we assign to the emotions that we are at a loss to describe. Our vocabulary has become dramatically simplified with regard to this exchange. We are so used to including the word "fat" as a reliable emotion. And the reason it works is that all women think they understand what it means to feel fat.

On some level it means that we feel uncomfortable with who we are in that moment. We feel insecure, fragile, frustrated with our own progress or lack of discipline, and we become chopped down by this word. That, therefore, makes us more relatable and identifiable to the person we are speaking with.

Hi Jessica, Thank You So Very Much for the Add.

Please continue Your remarkable work ! You are Precious !

Many Thanks & Blessings to You, John

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us.

We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous and successful?
Actually, who are you not to be?
Your playing small doesn’t serve the world.

There’s nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you.
We are born to manifest the glory that is within us.
It is not just in some of us, it’s in everyone.
And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.
As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.

    Follow your deepest instincts.
Where they take you is your true destiny.

Strive to achieve your personal best and be proud that you have the strength and determination to keep trying.

Always be loving and uplifting and you will live without regrets.

Remember one small act of kindness can inspire a lifetime of good feeling.

    Hey!
I was really inspired by you and how you teach people to love themselves. I've been trying to find a way that could do what I love and make people happy. I've found it. And it's doing what you're doing for women all across the country in my own little way.

    thanks SO much!

HEY JESS!!! I know you were looking for those who had struggled with or have recovered from ED's to participate in a project you were doing....who either didn't appear to have an ED outwardly, etc....okay, it's been awhile since I read your bulletin....could you give me some more info. about that??? I would DEFINITELY be interested if you are still looking for people....when I was in treatment I was severely Anorexic.....however, there were times when I was in my Bulimic phase where I appeared "healthy" on the outside....yet, I was very sick and struggling....Hope all is well with you!!! Hugs~
