Formed in 2007 by Christian Celaya and Anthony "Woody" Ranere, members of two currently dormant, indie bands, Benzos & Lake Trout, respectively, comes a wholly-different and well-varied beast. With Lions range is brazen, adventurous and confident, mixing between the lush soundscapes of Air, the dark, industrial aggression of NIN and the powerful, sonic grooves of Chemical Brothers or Justice. All this is backed by a full orchestra and at times, vocal choir, to channel avante garde types like Phillip Glass, John Cage, Karlheinz Stockhausen and John Murphy. The best way to describe With Lions is with one word...CINEMATIC.
The band splits their time between Jersey City and their studio homebase in Baltimore at their headquarters, Wrightway Studios/425 Music Group, with the help of engineer, Steve Wright. They are currently preparing numerous "pieces" that will feature Celaya and Ranere using their singing abilities, as well as their multi-instrumentalist nature. Choosing a different approach to catalog their compositions in shorter groupings, such as EP's, each release will encapsulate individual moods, textures and direction. This collective not only works as a band, but also as a production team.
