Wizardmarras Saturday Night at The Spinners is an Open Mic session night held on the first Saturday of every month at THE SPINNERS ARMS, Cummersdale Carlisle at 8:00pm.
Hosted by WIZARDMARRA, the infamous storyteller and SOLFEST legend it provides a venue and platform for musicians, poets, comics, storytellers and more. The atmosphere is incredibly friendly and informal and welcomes anyone from experienced "veterans" to new artists who may never have performed anywhere before.
Alain and Alison the Landlord & Landlady of The Spinners also provide a warm welcome to everyone and there is always at least one delicious guest beer on tap (and performers get some for free!).

The Jan open mic was a great night, my Mam was 70 and enjoyed every minute. She will be back with my Dad (74) for more in Feb. They are making "We are coming to Solfest for the night" noises.
Solfests answer to The X Factor or Carlisles Stobbart Factor THE DRYSTYAN TOUCH is the chance for Singer songwriters/double acts to get a prime time slot on The Drystone Stage. Come along to give a tune or two at the Spinners (or The Last Man Inn at Plumbland on the THIRD Saturday in the month) register for the Drystyan touch and your rise to fame and international mega stardom has started.
As long as you write and perform your own material and are resident in Cumbria (or if you are a student and studying away Cumbria is where your folks live.) NO AGE LIMIT you could be in your nineties (look at Tree after all!!!) and we'll still give you a chance.
The final will take place at a concert venue yet to be decided around May or June and when I've finalised the details there will be other fantastic stuff as prizes along with the PAID SLOT on the Drystone.
Poets, comedians and taletellers too are welcome. Even if you just want to do a turn at the pub we'll not turn away. You don't have to try for Solfest every performers still gets the free pint after all.
Which I might add is a free pint of REAL ALE The Spinners Arms having made it into the current edition of THE GOOD BEER GUIDE!
can't make it tonight im afraid, its my dads birthday so we're taking him to a transvestite bar in blackpool! should be an experience to write a song about!

Hello X, Thankyou so much Wiz X, for another great night out. Even though it was a bit quieter than normal as festie season and loads of people were away festieing, Still had tears streming down my face with laughter. Due to unforseen circumstances, I will not be able to get to Beatherder this year. Sure they will manage just fine without me!...
