What if I don't have a cd? Can't you just check out my myspace page/website/download my album?
Uh, no. We are a community radio station, and while it is not impossible for us to play mp3's or any other digital file, that is done by the discretion of the individual DJ's. Our format library is all CD's, and we mostly play...CDs, and occasionally vinyl, no all digital format for us. If you want your material to be considered for all-station, all-dj radio play, it has to be a CD.

Hey, great! But this profile is for a non-person entity. If you would like the person who runs the profile to come to your event, she thanks you very much, but is usually really busy. So event invitations, messages about shows, and whatnot are kind of useless. And if you want your show mentioned on air, again, that is left up to the discretion of the individual DJs, but we have relationships with most of the major venues in Chicago, and work with their (usually in-house) publicists and promoters for concert promotions, and such. Also, if you wanted to use our comments to say something of this nature, sorry! HTML is turned off, and to make sure no one steps on toes, only shows WLUW sponsors will be given attention, and artists we play and have in rotation will be allowed to promote on our page. If you really want us to check out something, a (not obviously spammy) message, or a cd sent to the above address will win you more brownie points than using our comments page as a billboard.
So wait then. what if I sent a message/sent a CD/am touring/want to play live on air/want my music played on air/want to promote my show? Is myspace then even the way to do it?
BINGO! The answer is no. We've been doing what we do for a long time, and have ways to do things that really streamline the process, and Myspace isn't really a part of that. I'm just trying to cut down on the mail, and make sure you don't throw all your eggs in one basket here. Feel free to contact either the Music Department at wluwmusicdept@gmail.com or the Promotions Department at wluwpromodept@gmail.com, and even then, be prepared for disappointment, as the music department screens hundreds of cds a week, and the promotions department prepares thier concert calanders months in advance.
