About me: Swain Æþeling Wódening, one of the founding members of the Miercinga Theod, started his Heathen life back in 1984 along with his brother. He learned of the AFA the year it disbanded, but in 1989 he learned of and joined the Troth. Shortly thereafter, he learned of Theodism, then solely an Anglo-Saxon phenomena, and joined the Winland Ríce in 1993. He rapidly advanced to the arung of lord by writing articles and attracting new members. In 1996, after several disputes with the leadership, he left to form the Angelseaxisce Ealdriht with Winfred Hodge. The Ealdriht grew to be the largest Anglo-Saxon Heathen and Theodish organization to ever exist. The Ealdriht eventually became the Miercinga Theod in an effort to encourage regionalism, and to return to a purer form of Theodish Belief. He led that organization until June, 2006 when he resigned to seek a deeper spirituality. His former wife Teresa Canote then took over leadership until March of 2008 when the Miercinga Theod dissolved. In June, 2007, he joined Englatheod which was founded by his brother, Eric Wodening (author of We are Our Deeds), and currently serves as its thyle.
Swain has written several books and booklets and countless articles including Hammer of the Gods: Anglo-Saxon Paganism in Modern Times, Þéodisc Geléafa "The Belief of the Tribe:": A Handbook on Germanic Heathenry and Theodish Belief,
and Germanic Magic.
Who I'd like to meet: Fellow Theodsmen, Asatruar, and Germanic Heathens in general, esp. in the Dallas, Texas area as I will be moving back there soon.
I just got your book Hammer of the gods yesterday and I am just about finished with it today, I love it! I was wondering if there is an online source for pronunciation guide for certain words and tittles that are in of AS,OE etc?

As you know, we of the Asatru faith have many adherents in the Military, and have been working for some time for the right to place our symbol (The Mjolnir (or Thor's Hammer) on the graves of our fallen warriors. The Asatru Folk Assembly has put together a petition as part of our campaign. This is not a MySpace "Cause" or another online poll, but a legitimate petition which we aim to present to the Department of Veterans Affairs.
Whether or not, you are an Asatruar, I hope you will support this cause as a basic right for our military personnel. Please sign the petition at:
Please take a moment to go to the Asatru Military Family Support Program's web site to sign our petition asking the Department of Veterans Affairs to authorize Thor's Hammer on headstones for veterans of the Asatru Faith.
It's easy! Go to http://hammerproject.org ...then click on "Sign Petition" on the navigation bar...then at the bottom of the page that comes up, hit "Sign Petition!"
Feel free to leave comments, especially if you are a veteran!
Please pass this on to everyone you know - regardless of religion, politics, pro- or anti-war! - who might sign it.
Oh - enjoy the rest of the site while you're there, too!
