WOHLLEBE is a bloke called Thorsten Wohllebe. A one man band in Berlin. A composer, recording artist and a multi-instrumentalist being able to play several instruments: guitar, bass, drums and his wurlitzer electric piano. He sings as well.
THE WHOLLEBE is a simple anagram of the name Wohllebe and his DJ name. Playing great records, preferable vinyl on your private party, in your favourite bar, club or whatever. Check out dates in the show section.

NO ONE KNOWS US
is the latest 'single', released on June 21st 2008.
The mixing and mastering job was done very well by Swedish pop wonder Henrik Andersson. Formerly of Komeda, Ray Wonder, Hank and currently playing and singing under the guise of The Clown. He also replaced my shitty drum track with his better one. His album Clownism is out since 2008 on Hjördisc records and there's another one coming soon. Thank you Henrik! I think we should do more together soon!
NOT QUITE RIGHT is from 2007 and about the general imperfection of things. There is ALWAYS something going wrong. "Even when the sun shines bright - something is not quite right. But that's alright!" Especially the thing with technology is that nowadays almost everything has become tacky, clumsy and shite. Nothing's made to last longer than a week and a half before it falls to pieces. So this song may be seen as a plea for more simplicity and less complication. And against ill fitting trousers.
I played everything as usual and my old pal Ralf Hammermeister twiddled the knobs.
HOT DAY obviously is about a hot summer day in the city and from the year before last year. I still want to redo some parts and the mix seems not quite right to me but what the hell...What I do like is the big buzzing fuzz bass sound and the lazy summery feel of the song. And yes! It is a real trombone and that was played by lovely Sabrina Zwach.
CORRECTIVE LENSES FOR EARTHLING SOULS is an old one and with my ex band MIND KIOSK. It was the first thing we've ever recorded in a studio in 1993 and released on our first demo tape (cassette). Strangely enough it was eventually released on a vinyl single much later and the late John Peel regarded it a good enough song to be played on his Radio 1 show - and so he did! Next thing was: We split up. And then he died. God bless his soul. The song title was inspired by a book by Kurt Vonnegut called Slaughterhouse Five and it (the song-not the book) is about a man in a shop selling glasses that make you see with different eyes. Silly but true!
GABRIELE MUSTERMANN is from my first solo release - a fake compilation tape called Kehlkopflose treffen sich from 1990. It was done with nothing else but 1 battered German Framus electric guitar with a bent neck, 1 fuzzbox, 1 wah wah pedal, 1 bucket, 1 tambourine, 1 typewriter, 2 glasses and a 4 track tape recorder. With rather interesting results.
