Five guys pickin music most of time with a few breaks for sarcasm and a tall tale here and there.
Formed in November of 2007, Wolf Creek is the creative collaboration of five of our areas most seasoned entertainers. Each of these musicians bring to this group a rich background performing music in a variety of acts playing some of the Tri Cities top venues and events including: Bristol Rhythm & Roots, Blue Plum, The Down Home, Paramount Theatre, Twilight Alive, The Carter Fold. & many more. . .
After spending the bulk of 2006-2007 touring with regional favorite Reagan Boggs, Jason Crawford, Kevin Jackson, Jim Price & Robbie Stevens found an opportunity to forge a new musical venture of their own making, and expand the palette of material which they present. Teaming up with Guitarist/Vocalist Edward Main, they have created a new musical experience which is no more aptly described than with the phrase “Powergrass With A Twang”.
Powergrass is the product of Bluegrass roots which are fused with the punch and impact of a tight and powerful rhythm section(ala electric bass & drums). The “twang” is provided via the Telecaster guitar and a love for the Classic Country sounds of Waylon Jennings, Merle Haggard & Buck Owens. Combining these elements with the many other styles each of these players bring to the group, Wolf Creek is creating a sound which is unique and fresh yet classic and timeless.
Wolf Creek, the band’s name, was derived from the song of the same name by Dan Fogelberg, which was performed by some of the bands biggest influences including: Doc Watson, Herb Pedersen, David Grisman & Jerry Douglas.
"Wolf Creek is an exciting new group from the "Bluegrass Heartland," but they don’t just play bluegrass. Driving, inventive instrumental work, heartfelt and dead-on vocals.. These boys have it all. You owe it to yourself to check these guys out." Tim Stafford - Blue Highway
"This band blends both Country and Bluegrass in a perfect way. The vocals and pickin’ are spot-on and they have a drive that is infectious! I’m sure that once you hear this group you’re going to be a fan!" Adam Steffey - Dan Tyminski Band
Great music last night..........I really enjoyed seeing, and hearing you guys.........I have seen and heard lots of musicians over the years, but you guys are truly brilliant. God has blessed all of you. I look forward to seeing you at Maggie. TAKE GOOD CARE. T.
We sure enjoyed the music last Friday at the Grocery Company! What a great selection of songs. We like the variety! Thanks especially for Magnolia. It's one of my favorites (although I was not the one who requested it).
