Wolf Mail
Biography

Wolf Mail measures among the top of a new generation of blues guitarists. He’s a passionate and mesmerizing player, or, as Tony Jaggers puts it "Words simply cannot describe the intensity and clarity that comes out of this man's guitar”.

Born in Montreal, Canada and raised in the South of France and California, Wolf Mail grew up as a traveling nomad. “My main inspiration always came from discovering new cultures and people” he says “My attempt is to translate those feelings into the music”

Mail picked up the guitar at the age of 10, listening to Elmore James and Ray Charles records. He did his first gig at 14 and ran away from home at 17 to tour with his own band.

Wolf particularly enjoys playing the Blues in places that do not get a lot of opportunities to hear that type of music. From the mountaineers of Siberia to the Moroccan Tuareg or the Australian Aboriginals, there is a tremendous source of universal knowledge that comes from these people and having been able to interact with them has been a very enriching experience “ he recalls.

Mail’s music style is a blend of traditional Blues, citing influences such as Albert Collins and Roy Buchanan to classic soul artists like Curtis Mayfield and Otis Redding to rock & blues i.e. Johnny Winter.

Wolf has created a very clean, powerful and yet intense guitar style. "His playing is concentrated with no waste", the UK Gloucester times recalls "Wringing emotions out of every note and making each one counts” Guitar Player Japan also declares “The new Blues master of the Telecaster.”

As for Wolf’s voice, it is very distinctive and particularly suited to the blues, the Australian Southern star recalls "The man has a voice that will raise chicken skin down your back". Combining his guitar style and voice with highly crafted songwriting it is no surprise that his previous album “Solid Ground” spent three weeks in the top 10 Japanese best selling chart.

Wolf's live performances are legendary, and as Ron Edmonds from Exclusive management puts it "You always get something out of a Wolf Mail show, if you don't relate to his songs you will sure relate to the intense passion he's got for them"
