3 Männer, 2 Gitarren und ein Gitarrenkoffer


COWBOYS ON DOPE sind gewissermaßen das Destillat aus der in den 90er Jahren überaus erfolgreichen Kölner Indie-Band "RAUSCH" die durch ihre Erfolge auf 7 Majoralben Rockgeschichte geschrieben haben und mit Bands wie NIRVANA, SOUNDGARDEN, FAITH NO MORE, B-52’S, JOE COCKER, STRAY CATS, TOTEN HOSEN uva. die Bühne teilten. Als RAUSCH dann 1996 beim SXSW- Musikfestival in Austin/Texas zusammen mit SELIG auftrat, sich dort von texanischer Musik inspirieren ließ und diverse Saloons unsicher machte, war die Geburt von COWBOYS ON DOPE beschlossene Sache. So touren C.O.D. seitdem durch Clubs und auf Festivals mit Bands wie EELS, KEZIAH JONES, TITO & TARANTULA, FURY IN THE SLAUGHTERHOUSE, SCORPIONS, GENTLEMAN etc. und haben dadurch die Coolness, überall eine einzigartige Atmosphäre zwischen Lagerfeuer und Rockgarage zu verbreiten. Sänger und Frontmann Peter Sarach, Drummer Wolly Düse und Gitarrist Thorsten Dohle machen aus jedem Abend ein Ereignis – und das an jedem erdenklichen Ort. In eigenwilliger Manier tragen die COWBOYS ON DOPE ihre eigenen Songs und erlesene Cover-Versionen vor. Peter Sarachs Stimme ist wie geschaffen dafür, die Songs von JOHNNY CASH, VELVET UNDERGROUND, NEIL YOUNG oder den SUPERSUCKERS zu interpretieren. Der gekonnte Harmoniegesang der drei Cowboys und Thorsten Dohles innovatives und spontanes Gitarrenspiel, machen eine COWBOYS ON DOPE - Show zu einem Live-Erlebnis der besonderen Art. Ob das ganze dann in einem Wohnzimmer, einer Bar oder im Club Ihres Vertrauens stattfindet, spielt keine Rolle: die COWBOYS ON DOPE gehen überall rein. Grund dafür ist die einzigartige Instrumentierung: der Gitarren-Koffer ersetzt ein aufwendiges Drum- Set und die Verstärker erinnern nicht an altfränkische Wohnzimmerschrankwände, sondern kommen eher in der Größe eines Schuhkartons daher. Auf Grund der riesigen Nachfrage haben COWBOYS ON DOPE 2003 dem Wunsch ihrer Fangemeinde nachgegeben und das erste Studio-Album „High Noon“ produziert und veröffentlicht. Im Dezember 2005 waren die Drei im Studio, und haben ihr zweites Album „Black Money“ aufgenommen, welches 2006 bei Bex Records/Roughtrade veröffentlicht wurde. 2008 haben C.O.D. ihre Live-CD aufgenommen und abgemischt. Da sie hier auch mal außerhalb des Bühnengeschehens zusammen saßen, hat das Trio direkt noch das langersehnte dritte Studioalbum „Electric Sky“ komponiert und aufgenommen. Im Sommer 2009 erschienen beide Werke als Doppel-CD bei Bex Records/Cargo. Im August 2012 brachten C.O.D. mit „The Daily Dope“ ihre vierte Langspielplatte auf den Markt. „The Daily Dope“ wurde im Wohnzimmer von Sänger Peter, mit nur einem Mikrofon aufgenommen. Die Erstauflage kam zunächst nur als limitierte Edition auf Vinyl inkl. enhanced CD mit 2 unveröffentlichten Videos raus. Nach über 1000 absolvierten Konzerten rollt die „Neverending C.O.D. – Tour“ weiter und weiter und weiter…….

C.O.D. established itself out of the core of the band Rausch, who with their success on seven major albums, wrotes rock history and toured for years through the whole world with bands such as Nirvana, Soundgarden, Faith No More, B-52’s etc. As Rausch performed at the SXSW-Music Festival 1996 in Austin/Texas, inspired from the Texan music heard there, the birth of C.O.D. was a closed thing. So meanwhile, the guys have already been touring Europe successfully since years, with bands like Eels, Keziah Jones, Tito and Tarantula or the Scorpions, and have this special coolness which spreads a unique atmosphere, somewhere between campfire and rock-garage everywhere they perform. C.O.D. offers their self composed songs and special interpretated, well selected coverversions. Peter Sarach’s voice is as though created to interpret the songs from Neil Young, Velvet Underground, Johnny Cash, Beasts of Bourbon or such as the Supersuckers. Whether the whole show happens in a private living room, at a bar or a club of your confidence, no problem. C.O.D. can go in everywhere. Reason for this is their very unique instrumentation: the guitar case substitutes for an inconvenient bulky drum set and the amps do not remind of big office-cupboards, and come in more the size of a shoe carton. In 2003, persuaded by the enormous demand from their fan community, C.O.D. produced and released their first studio album “HIGH NOON”. In November & December 2005 the three cowboys were back in the studio and recorded their second album “BLACK MONEY”, which was released in spring of 2006 on BEX RECORDS distributed through ROUGH TRADE. During their 2008 “recording session gigs” C.O.D. magnetize the shows, to produce their long awaited live album. But they've had composed so many new songs, so they decided to make a doublealbum. The idea of "ELECTRIC SKY" was born. "ELECTRIC SKY" was released on 29th of may 2009 on BEX RECORDS, distributed through CARGO. In summer 2012 C.O.D. release their fourth longplayer “The daily dope”, which was recorded in singer Peter Sarach’s livingroom, with only one microphone. The first edition comes out in a limited edition of only 500 pieces on clear vinyl including an enhanced CD with 2 new unreleased videos. In the meantime, the never ending C.O.D.-tour continues.
