"Provocative and affecting... The doc, about a wide range of female filmmakers from all around the world, pulls few punches when it comes to the life-and-death stakes faced by women in many countries."
- Alice Zhou, Event Coordinator, Vancouver Film School
"This documentary brings women cinematographers around the world clearly into view; its scope is breathtaking and the women's voices riveting.”
- Kathleen McHugh, Professor and Director, UCLA Center for the Study of Women
Our global, groundbreaking documentary is the first to explore the lives of camerawomen from around the world. Camerawomen have been among those shooting buddies-with-guns escaping in slow motion from total destruction, as well as among the video journalists who have lost lives along with the victims of war. This film includes pioneer camerawomen in Afghanistan, Argentina, Australia, Austria, Brazil, Canada, China, England, France, Germany, India, Iran, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand, The Philippines, Russia, Senegal, South Korea, Spain, New York and Hollywood, and the men and women who have been supportive of their struggles.
Based on Alexis Krasilovsky's book of the same title, this feature incorporates 50 interviews with camerawomen from around the world. All of the interviews are in English or are subtitled in English (for those interviews that were conducted in French, German, Spanish, Chinese, Farsi, Korean, Japanese and Gujarati). Our documentary employs extraordinary clips from six continents including Antartica, from a variety of digital, video, 16mm/35mm and widescreen film sources, and includes interviews with camerawomen whose work has won major awards, including an Academy Award, Emmy's, Cannes' Palmes d'Ors, Sundance, etc. The technical level of their clips--ranging from Sandi Sissel's 'A' camerawork for 'Salaam Bombay!' to Jo Carson's special effects cinematography on 'Honey, I Shrunk the Kids'--is superb.
Our documentary explores the vision and voices of the pioneers who were the first to film in war zones, from helicopters, underwater and on Hollywood sets, and the new generation of camerawomen who are achieving their visions now.

There are many different types of people
in the world. Some are artists, some are
builders and some are just the creators
at what they do and not to be over
looked, for without them
we would not be here.
Our destiny is to tell a story with
picture and sound, we
create it story form beginning to end.
We make it a visual
and audio entertaining experience,
from the writing to
the directing, to the composing,
to editing, to capturing
it and putting it on film.
