About me:

Women’s Health Matters is a project of Family Planning Advocates of New York State and New York’s twelve Planned Parenthood affiliates. This project was created to stand up for women’s health and advocate for public policies that fulfill the rights of individuals to comprehensive sexual and reproductive health services and education that are consistent with principles of justice and fairness and respect diversity, personal dignity and privacy. Join us because WOMEN’S HEALTH MATTERS. In 1970, New York was one of the first states in the nation to permit safe and legal abortion. The law was a groundbreaking step in protecting women's health and reducing maternal morbidity and mortality. Over the past three and a half decades, however, much has changed in law and medical practice and New York’s law is out of date and in need of reform. New York law does not contain a health exception, or even any affirmative guarantee protecting women’s rights to make private reproductive health care decisions. We rely on the federal constitution to guarantee those rights, leaving us vulnerable to further erosion by the Supreme Court. New York State must continue to protect and respect women’s health and the right to make private reproductive health care decisions, no matter what happens in the Supreme Court. Stand with us.
