BOARD MEMBERS::
BEV BOWERS, President(Bio forthcoming)***
KATIE LAUR--Katie Laur is a pioneer in women-fronted bluegrass bands and an icon in the bluegrass world. She hosts the Sunday classic program on WNKU 89.7, "Music from the Hills of Home," and has served Greater Cincinnati through organizing and performing at many fundraisers for the Appalachian community, Over the Rhine neighborhood and Playhouse in the Park, to name just a few. When not singing bluegrass with her many band configurations, Katie is known to croon some sultry swing and jazz.***
NANCY BROERMANN--Nancy Broermann has supported Womensway since she moved here from Texas. As a board member, she brings her creativity, innovative ideas, and supports her passion in life – supporting women in the arts. Nancy, a retired elementary school teacher, researches genealogy and is writing books on her family histories. She is married and has two adult children.***
ROBERTA SCHULTZ--Roberta Schultz has always tried to balance her love for words and music. So, she paid her way through college as an English Lit major by performing with Morehead State University's vocal group, The Intimate Cyrcle, under the direction of Jay Flippin. While teaching high school English for 18 years, she brought her love of music into the classroom as often as her grant writing chops would permit, producing a "Swing Kids" radio show on cassette(remember them?) and developing a humanities course called "Celebrating the Creative Spirit" with her teaching partner, Karen Martin. Roberta writes songs, plays guitar and sings with the award-winning folk trio, Raison D'Etre and is on the Kentucky Arts in Education Roster for Music.
TRACY WALKER--Tracy Walker has won an award for just about any kind of music you can name: jazz, folk, blues, singer-songwriter. She remains at the core of all important music events in Cincinnati and organizes a successful "song writers in the round" experience at York Street Cafe. Tracy just joined the board in 2008. We are very pleased to have access to her expertise and guidance.
NANCY SCHAFER--A photographer who devotes her work to women in music, Nancy joined the board in 2007 and continues to contribute her knowledge and support to Womensway events. She was the official photographer for Tri-State Womonfest in 2007 and has exhibited her photography throughout the Cincinnati area.
