Best known for it’s expansive poetry section. As booksellers and presenters of art and literature, we want people to know that there is more than what you see at your chain bookstore, more than what you are taught in school, more than what is reviewed in the papers.

關於我: Woodland Pattern Book Center is dedicated to the discovery, cultivation and presentation of contemporary literature and the arts. Founded in 1979 as a non-profit organization in Milwaukee, Wisconsin's Riverwest neighborhood, the center houses a bookstore with over 27,000 small press titles otherwise unavailable in our area.
Because we are nonprofit, our inventory decisions aren't dictated by commercialism. As booksellers and as presenters of art and literature, we want people to know that there is more than what you see at your chain bookstore or are taught in school. We hope to act as a catalyst, putting readers together with small press literature. Come browse our selection of poetry, chapbooks, fine print materials, broadsides, and multicultural literature! Our space also includes an art gallery where we present exhibitions, artist talks, readings, experimental films, concerts and writing workshops for adults and children.

Chicks dig scars, everyone knows that, right? Meet Severence DeSnappio, a man who creates ‘fake’ injuries for desperate clients. He’ll get you a stab wound, shot gun blast, snowboarding injury - but a bite from a great white shark?
Set in Miami, Chicks Dig scars is a lyrical, Lynchian mix of dream logic and hard boiled detection.
The comet and the brink are one Equality's nightingale aflutter Yet wicked men who entreat the horror Secret their blood-stained code of honor
O the starry sky could care less And the stars that shine long dead Where the mercury of our measure reasons hatred And the clock inside the blood has turned to rust
Do not forget the primrose magic Do not turn back the tides of change To have a skin-tone means you aren't equal Not even if your pure mind burns But the world is ready in this instant It turns around and shows its back To all directions of eternal black
Not the red of southern deserts Not the brown of Serengeti plains Not the parched earth of farmer's dying Not the shadows within our eyes
The world's not dizzy from its turning Nor fearful of its joyous ride Nor judging mortals by their infirmity When each one of us is more than sky
The dragonfly does not judge the hand Upon which it alighted and the primrose Blossoms heal the wounded soul The delight in nature is in its dawning Its feast of blood and jewel and soil
I am glad of life upon the scales And unafraid to love and linger My heart is soaring through the darkness My eyes when heavy get lifted high I will not forget the ones whose wounding Spread like cancer through the night And send a message of forgiveness When their comet passes by
