About me:

The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion

Surrounded by lush forests, The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion is an outdoor amphitheater that provides the Greater Houston region with an array of performing arts and contemporary entertainment in a setting of unparalleled beauty. The Pavilion is owned and operated by The Center for the Performing Arts at The Woodlands, a nonprofit 501 (c)(3) organization, and governed by a volunteer board of directors.

The Pavilion opened with a star-studded gala weekend in April 1990. The Pavilion presents approximately 65 events every March through November, events ranging in style from rock to classical, jazz to country, and modern opera to contemporary American ballet. The Pavilion is also the "Summer Home" of the Houston Symphony and "Home Away from Home" of Houston Ballet.

The Pavilion’s national commercial attractions are produced and promoted by Live Nation. Performing arts events, including the annual Children's Festival, are produced and promoted by The Pavilion.

In recent years, The Center for the Performing Arts at The Woodlands has emerged as a vital link in exposing large numbers of people to the performing arts and offering a diverse assortment of educational and community outreach programs that touch the lives of nearly 30,000 children and their families annually throughout the Greater Houston area. These programs are an integral part of The Center’s mission to offer live performances to students regardless of race, gender, ethnicity or socio-economic status. The Center has developed programs to support fine arts students, offer academic and social incentives, foster new audiences and partner with other community organizations for community enrichment opportunities.

Educational outreach programs at The Pavilion include: the Hats Off to Reading Celebration, Music in Motion, Fine Arts Education Day, Musical Scores and the annual Children’s Festival. The Pavilion also offers several other community outreach programs and activities throughout the year. These programs include Pavilion Talk and Young Talent Spotlight. And fine arts scholarships are awarded through The Pavilion Partners to high school seniors and university students majoring in the fine arts.
