woodscream

Woodscream is one of the brightest young bands at the underground scene of Saint Petersburg. The music performed by Woodscream is a harmonic composition of the various genres of modern metal, which includes the elements of European folk traditions and the atmosphere of the dark middle-age tales on which the lyrics of majority band's songs are based. Presently Woodscream has three singles and a mini-album released and numerous concerts played at the different stages of Germany, Poland, Lithuania, Latvia and Russia.

The band was founded by Alexander Klimov at Saint Petersburg in the end of 2006. The first significant event in Woodscream's life was a debut concert which has taken place on the 1st of September in 2007 at the repetition base "Egorov". In a couple of months the band has given its first public concert. All the following year Woodscream has being actively playing in the different clubs of Saint Petersburg.

The first release of the band was a single named "Castle of Trolls", being author's remake of the classic Folk Metal composition "Trollslottet" of the legendary Swedish band "Otyg". The single was issued on the 14th of October in 2008. In two months Woodscream has released one more single named "Origin of Nine Worlds".

In 2009 the band has played the first time out of Saint Petersburg. It was on the 1st of May in "Plan B" club in Moscow. In the same day the debut mini-album record has started. On the 30th of May Woodscream played at "May Tree Open Air Festival" in old Swedish castle in Vyborg (Russia) for the first time.

On the 2nd of April in 2010 in "Arctic" club has been held the presentation of mini-album named "Pentadrama". In summer of the same year was released a single "Svartedauen". The songs "Svartedauen" and "Castle of Trolls" were included in "Russian Extreme Folk Familia Vol. 1" compilation, issued on the 10th of October 2010.

In 2011 band sparked interest of European listeners and promouters. On the 23th of May German label "Sturmglanz Black Metal Manufaktur" released "Der Heidensturm III" CD compilation which included Woodscream's song "Akonit". In october Woodscream went on tour that consisted of 12 gigs in Germany, Poland, Lithuania, Latvia and Russia.

Presently Woodscream is actively working over the material for their first full album.
