About Paul Woodhead, Woody’s Traditional One Man Band
My music genre is that of novelty music singer/songwriter. I dip into country, olde tyme, rock, pop and folk. I also write a few serious songs or "message" songs ie sometimes combining humour with a moral. I am a traditional "walkabout" one man band ie bass drum on my back. I also have a floor mounted version with washboard. For dances and parties I have a sack truck version which incorporates a Suzuki Q and small keyboard plus self made backing tracks as & if required (for dancing etc).
I have a particular empathy with mature audiences and project myself as an "English Gentleman". I tend to write songs appropriate to a mature audience (without swearing or being blue). I have also worked with children though not as often.
I have appeared on Channel 4 TV in April 2007, where I performed the music for Movement 1, "ANDANTE", for Benjamin Till's "The Busker Symphony". (www.thebuskersymphony/andante). This was part of Channel 4's "Three Minute Wonder" documentary series. This was filmed in August 2006 in Sclater St, London E1 (see below).
I also recorded and filmed for Disney TV in July 2007 for their Bunnytown production. This was filmed at Elstree Studios near London for release in the USA and European TV networking.
In June 2008 I appeared on Channel 4's "Sunday Night Project" with Alan Carr, Justin Lee Collins and Mark Ronson and in October I provided One Man Banding for ITV2's Xtra Factor with Holly Willoughby, the X Factor judges and contestants.
Most of my gigs are private or corporate functions plus carnivals, festivals, fetes etc. In 2007 I worked for a corporate sponsor at Brighton PRIDE 2007 where the attendance was claimed by Brighton & Hove to be circa 150,000. I worked the 2 mile parade with a team of West End dancers perfoming Mary Poppins routines. My contribution is included in the official DVD released by Absolute TV, an internet based TV station.
In 2008 Woody's One Man Band was used by Stella McCartney for fashion events in London, Paris and Liverpool. I also was used for a new Government film funded by the Electoral Commission as well as Cadbury Wispa.
