Leading the purposeless life, laughing, telephone pole kicking, rockabilly, cocktails, stuff by the side of the road, Tiki, pre-1970something country music, old bars & restaurants, making stuff some have called "art", Happy Hour, old cars, Las Vegas...This is taking too long making a list of my life which is really just full of retro lifestyle cliches similar to the ones I've already listed.
Music
This is the part of the test that shows the world how cool you are, right? So for that reason I'll mention how much I love 101 Strings and elevator music. From there it all goes straight to standard list hell and in no particular order...Johnny Horton, Belle and Sebastian, BR549, Henry Mancini, Jimmie Dale Gilmore, Straight 8s, Herb Alpert, Willie Nelson, Roy Kay Trio, Everything But The Girl, Stray Cats/Setzer, Hopped Up!, Josh Rouse, Merle Haggard, the Rock n' Roll Trio, Feist, the Neanderthals, Dean Martin, Hillbilly Hellcats, Tullycraft, Elvis, Mel Torme, X, Chris Ledoux, Wayne Hancock, Don Williams, Neutral Milk Hotel, Lil Bit and the Customatics, Bobby Darin, Waylon Jennings, Carl Perkins, Frank Sinatra, Modest Mouse, Johnny Cash, Hank Snow, Jerry Jeff Walker, Camper Van Beethoven, George Strait, Chet Atkins, k d lang, Velvet Underground, Dwight Yoakam, The Proclaimers, Bob Wills, The Postal Service, Old 97s, Buck Owens, Milt Brown and His Musical Brownies, Bear Family and Proper Records comps...And John Phillips Sousa on the 4th of July.
Movies
In no order here are 11 movies I own:
The Big Lebowski, The Wonder Boys, X-Men trilogy, Cry-Baby, Good Night and Good Luck, Hud, Hellboy, Ratatouille,
Stand By Me, Time Bandits, Annie Hall.
Here's some movies I own cuz they're so bad they're good: Pure Country, Point Break, Urban Cowboy, Roadhouse.
Television
Futurama, Arrested Development, Venture Brothers, Reaper, Home Movies, the Munsters, Malcolm in the Middle, NEW Doctor Who, Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Torchwood, Harvey Birdman Attorney at Law, Beverly Hillbillies, Farscape, Lexx, the Addams Family. That's a good start. Most importantly: No drama, no crime, no "reality". (Except the Soup which watches all the TV I don't wanna watch and makes it funny.)
Books
Some authors I have multiple books of:
Kingsley Amis, Willa Cather, Kurt Vonnegut, Evelyn Waugh, Woody Allen, P.G. Wodehouse, David Sedaris, Douglas Adams.
Somebody who should write essays and shove 'em in books: Marc Maron. Look him up and laff yer ass off.
Heroes
We've always called them "poor boys" or "subs" and I'll pretty much eat anything on one, but I guess I like the spicier meats best.
woofmutt Apparently there were not enough nails in their coffin: MySpace made their site inaccesible to older browsers. BRILLIANT! Posted at 9:48 PM Jan 4 view more
