THURSDAY, JUNE 25 Colin Aberdeen and Mark Nanni of Los Blancos
with Willie "Taters" Mavins
Colin Aberdeen founded two award-winning Central New York bands: the raucous old-time blues band the
Westcott Jugsuckers, the first band to play the world-famous Dinosaur BBQ, and Los Blancos, which performs what is referred to as “a mongrel mix of
American roots music.” Aberdeen plays blues, rags, and originals and has toured all over the country and as far away as Australia sharing his love of
American roots music. He has performed with musical luminaries such as Hubert Sumlin, David Bromberg, Roy Book Binder, Terrance Simien, Bernard Allison,
Ronnie Earl, Merl Saunders, Double Trouble, and Govt. Mule.
Mark Nanni has played keyboard and accordion with Los Blancos for
more than ten years. He also performs with his own band, The Intention, as well as playing solo piano gigs, recording, producing, and teaching.
Willie "Taters" Mavins is a singer and songwriter who performs with the band Quick Change the acoustic duo Ken and Willie. For ten years he hosted
the open mic at Syracuse’s famed Orange Grove.
The lap of windshield wipers late at night...love, lost and found...the ring of guitar strings...unexpected grooves...conversations overheard in a bar...weird piano chords...things you wish you'd said...wondering if anyone else knows the feeling...

The Words and Music series is all about building and celebrating a community of musicians and music lovers, so hey: get involved. How?
> Be a MySpace friend--and spread the word to friends, troubadours, and all creative souls.
> Use the Grab Box to post a banner, widget, music player, or schedule anywhere on the Web (blogs, MySpace pages, bulletins, comments...). Just copy and paste the code--it's easy!
> Suggest a songwriter to perform...or suggest yourself!Email me.
If you're interested in performing at the showcase, tell me a little about yourself and your music. Briefly describe your original songs and where/how you've performed them (and remember that great songs are more important than great credits). Send links to two or three songs I can hear online--choose tracks that are closest to how you sound playing solo.
Thanks for supporting original music.

Awesome. Just awesome. It is totally amazing to see that many musicians and music related people in the same room with fans and music aficionados. I love what you are doing! I only wish we didn't live an hour away. Is there any way you'd ever consider the Kirkland Art Center in Clinton? Or the Park Coffee House in Holland Patent? Just for a show here or there? I would be willing to help out for sure!!! :-) We will continue to attend your events in Syr. though. ;-)
