My main interest is my wife and sons. They are my stars and my moon, my sun and my air.
I am an avid reader of fantasy and science fiction literature, along with histories of all kinds. I am a card carrying member of the RPGA - meaning (for those who don't know it) I am a gamer. Have dice, will travel.
Despite my somewhat intellectual appearances, I love to work my hands. I have become an adequate carpenter and am constantly tinkering in my garage with whatever power tools I can get my hands on.
Music
I listen to almost everything. I suppose my primary music is country, but I can listen to whatever happens to be on in most cases.
Movies
Some favorites: Star Wars, Princess Bride, Mr. Holand's Opus, Silverado, Serenity, Dead Again, Indiana Jones, Holy Grail, Shaun of the Dead
Television
I rarely have the time, but: Mythbusters, Who's Line, Dog the Bounty Hunter (don't ask), Castle, anything on the History Channel.
I have recently actually begun watching a regular program. Robin Hood on BBCAmerica. Quite fun little show.
Books
Books are the simply greatest thing in the world. They expand the mind and add to the general dialogue. I am a voracious reader and my library card is my friend.
For those of you with an economic bent, they are also extremely cost effective. One book costs $9.00 (soft cover) and gives you days of enjoyment. You can't even get a 2 hour movie for that anymore!
Heroes
Rufus Brown. He was a college professor of mine who taught music at Kishwaukee College. He was wacky and fun and care passionately about what he taught. He showed me the kind of teach I want to be. He passed away in 2005 at the young age of 32. He crammed more life into his 32 years than most people fit into 80. He is missed.

About me: I am a man at peace with life. Those of you out there who know people like me also know that there is only one way that a man may achieve such peace - the love of a good family. Having the crushing despair of divorce once raise it's malformed head to me, I can speak with authority that there is no greater thing than the love of a GOOD woman and the adoration of tiny baby and a vicarious two year old. :)
I am a wordsmith. I write prose, poetry, and play with language like children's blocks. I move words around to find the way that speaks to me in hopes it might speak to others. I am devoted to the idea of carrying those values to others and am an educator of youth at Rockford's Jefferson School.
Who I'd like to meet: William Shakespeare, Lord Byron, Robert Burns, Aristotle, Socrates, and a host of other luminaries. However, seeing as they are pushing the proverbial dasies up, I'll be happy to talk to just about anyone. I am most eager to talk my son. Hope he figures out how soon! (so does my wife! lol)
Hey Doug... I sure hope things start to look up for you and Amanda... Let me know if you need someone to entertain Gavyn for a day or something... I would love to see you guys... but I will completely understand if I don't get to see you for a shower... I mean we can always get together under different pretenses, in a smaller setting. *hugs*
You are NOT that old. lol... and why do YOU get to be Batman?! That's totally unfair! If you're THAT old you should be Alfred and I could be Batman! HahaHAha . just kidding?
RAWR snow day and he has briefings/duty! what kind of crap is that?! lol...
Is it bad that I want a spring wedding?... not that I would of course, because you would win $20... but really in the grand scheme of things, what's twenty bucks?
