MoviesFABRICE - A BIOGRAPHY

He was born in Bobigny, Seine St Denis, a suburb of Paris, France. At the age of six, his parents moved to Melun, Seine et Marne, where he studied in elementary with the Catholic nuns of Ecole St Marie. Just before starting high school, his parents decided to move in the South West of France and at the age of eighteen, he left home to study, first, Law and then English and American Civilisation Literature in Toulouse, Midi-Pyrenees. While studying and striving to pay for his College fees, he got a "serious" job in a marketing company and became quickly a manager for several years.

Back in Summer 2001, he decided to leave everything behind (job, house, relationship, friendship, material possessions and more) and left France with one suitcase to settle down in Madrid, Spain. As he became quickly frustrated by the barrier of the language (he went there knowing only the basics of Spanish,) he flew directly to the city he once swore he would never set his feet in: London, England. With no money and no warm clothes to wear in rainy and cold London, he contemplated either to go back to his "old" life or striving to make his dream come true.

Whereas he was writing lyrics back in Madrid, he decided to write a screenplay when he got to London. At first, he wrote a pilot for a TV series, but left it aside to move on a grander scale: a long feature. When a co-production between a Los Angeles based production company and a major studio requested to read his final draft, he came to understand what he wrote would have been costing more money than a small production would been able to afford. This experience developed into a stronger interest in the production end of the film-making process. After graduation from the Hollywood Film Institute, Los Angeles, California, he founded the production company Blind Ambition Entertainment Ltd and since then he has spent his time developing many projects. The company produced the first project he wrote and directed: WORDS, a short movie depicting different scenes of a longer feature.

   WORDS's Blurbs
About me:
SHORT SYNOPSIS:

Jimmy, a waiter, loses everything within one day (job, girlfriend, house, etc.) His life is about to take an unexpected turn when he meets Jean, a mysterious woman, who, without knowing it, will make his wishes come true. Is he given another chance to live his life differently or is it just an opportunity to face the consequences of his previous actions?
Who I'd like to meet:

LONG SYNOPSIS:

A QUIET RESTAURANT. SAM, the manager, is on the phone, talking to a woman. It quickly appears that he talks to his lover and they argue about an upcoming vacation they plan to take together. Sam has to cut off when JIMMY, the waiter, brings some appetizer to a FEMALE CUSTOMER. She discreetly flirts with Jimmy at Sam..s visible annoyance. Jimmy leaves to go to the kitchen and comes back a few seconds later with the customer..s salad. Sam walks in his direction narrowing his way to the wall nearby. Jimmy drops the plate. Sam pretends to be very cross with him and irrationally fires him on the spot.

IN THE APPARTMENT. Jimmy arrives home and finds ROSE, his girlfriend, in the kitchen. She is busy putting some things in plastic bags while talking on the phone. As soon as she sees Jimmy coming up the stairs, she finishes her conversation abruptly. Jimmy pays no attention and tells her that he got fired. Then, he is surprised to see a piece of luggage on the kitchen floor and wonders if first Rose plans on leaving, then if they plan on going on holiday together. She announces the suitcase is his and he realizes that she is breaking up with him.

ON A CAFE TERRACE. Now that Jimmy has lost his job, home, and girlfriend within a few hours, he finds refuge in a caf... Lots in thought and drinks, he is interrupted by JEAN who joins him at his table. He recognizes the woman from the restaurant. They talk about what happened when he got back home and Jimmy tells her how much he wished that things were different. Jean leaves she tells Jimmy that everything is possible and asks him to close his eyes.

IN THE RESTAURANT. Jimmy opens them again, but now he is in the restaurant. It is a deja-vu scene, but this time around, HE is the manager and Sam is the waiter. Without really knowing the reason why, Jimmy quickly realises that he has chance to inflict what he has endured previously. He forces Sam to drops the plates and fires him. He then proceeds to flirt with the only female customer in the restaurant (who is Jean).

LATER. Jimmy and Jean are in a booth. They got close together. Jean tells him that what he has done was very inappropriate, whereas Jimmy is not sure if he should be enthralled to be having some fun with her or feeling uncomfortable. When he gets out of the booth, Rose has seen what happened there, and is angry at what she has witnessed. She goes down the stairs, quickly followed by Jimmy. He tells her how much he is sorry. Rose does not want to listen. She even wishes she had never met him in the first place. Jimmy suddenly remembers a sentence said by Jean earlier in his ..other life.. and tells Rose that he loves her for the first time. Rose is stuck.

IN THE RESTAURANT. Rose, now a waitress, serves appetizers to a customer who is sat in a booth. She walks back to the bar and is checked out by the manager Sam. Jimmy, now a visitor, enters the restaurant (for the first time) and goes directly to the bar. Rose asks him what he would like to order and he asks her what she would recommend to a guy whose girlfriend just dumped him. Rose suggests that a glass of wine might cheer him up, she shows him the bottle but when she is about to put the glass on the bar, it collides with the bottle and break into pieces. They both check if each other are not hurt and it is obvious that there is some spark between the two of them. Meanwhile, Sam walks to the booth with a bottle of wine. When he approaches the table and looks the customer in the face he becomes very uneasy. It is Jean. He looks around as if wanting to hide the fact that they know each other. Jean boldly tells him that they need to talk about their future plans...

Your Myspace friendship in important to us… thanks.

My wife Diane and I asked our Myspace friends last week to tell us how you feel about the VT tragedy, in a constructive and healthy way. We offered our condolences to those who lost loved ones and expressed our sadness. Myspace friends overwhelmingly responded with loving concern, opinion and suggestions and what also became our own VT memorial at Surviving Bipolar. Your thoughts matter to us. As public speakers and advocates for bipolar disorder in a variety of ways your combined voices become the “heartbeat of bipolar disorder,” for us and you allow us to keep our finger on the pulse. Thank you so much for your response.

I have bipolar disorder and years ago was labeled falsely with statements that I was going to harm someone. This was never true. Leaders lied and people believed the slander which resulted in hundreds of people that I loved turning against me, a result of fear and lack of understanding. People shunned me like the plague and no one ever even asked me my side of the story. I now understand the destructive nature of slander and why it can never be repaired. I write of this in my book and how I contemplated taking my own life because of all of it. It was this labeling and false witness that became the darkest period of my life whereby suicide was on my mind. I have since forgiven everyone and am also sensitive to situations that could replay my horror for someone else.

So, our prayer is that those who suffer with the oppression of mental illness, depression and bipolar – like me, will not be stereotyped as harmful to others, but rather extended understanding and abundant healing love. Please join us in prayer and in your thoughts. Your comments are welcome.

Love,

David and Diane Mariant
