The original Works In Theory (WIT) radio show was born on SYN (90.7 FM) on the 18th of July, 2004, in Melbourne, Australia. Starting with the modest timeslot of 11-12 on Sunday mornings, the hosts and creators of WIT, Josh Fergeus and Josh Merriel, had soon perfected their special blend of music, politics and comedy. Disagree? Too bad. WIT was bound for great things. Whether you like it or not.
Only one SYN grid after it's conception, Works In Theory was promoted to headlining SYN's Thursday Punk and Metal night, at 8.30 'til 10pm. Kicking off 2005 with a new load of segments and a host of new bands joining the playlist, the Joshes' timeslot was bumped up to two hours, from 8 'til 10pm, until the show was forced to rest, as per SYN's policy. The show had its triumphant return at the end of 2005, producing three awesome grids throughout 2006. During that time, it was picked up by the Community Radio Network, and a one-hour music-based version of the show was broadcast right around Australia on various community stations from 11pm on Friday evenings for the next year and a half. The original Works In Theory returned to SYN from the 1st of March, 2007 @ 11pm-1am Thursday nights, and is now on indefinite hiatus.

Works In Theory on the Community Radio Network was a nationally broadcast show which aired for one hour every Friday night from 11pm on various community stations around the country. From July to October 2006, Josh & Josh produced A Brief History Of Alternative Music , which was pretty much what it sounds like! The show covered the history of punk, metal, ska, emo, and everything in between from MC5 in the 60s through to 2006 releases from Tool and 36 Crazyfists.
