| About Nicole Moudaber |
Nicole Moudaber’s musical fortunes continue to rise in 2008. The end of 2007 saw her dark house productions become staples in the DJ sets of Carl Cox, Steve Lawler, Hernan Cattaneo, Valentino Kanzyani, Ivan Smagghe, Ewan Pearson, DJ Vibe, Funk D'Void, Roger Sanchez, Danny Howells and more, as her hotly received reworking of BFE’s ‘I Got Cash’ on Azuli and her remix of OrtZoka’s ‘Midnight’, graced many a main room.
Throughout 2007 Nicole had releases on Azuli, Plastic City and Nocturnal Groove as well as remixing Tiger Stripes for Urbantorque and ‘Muzik Xpress’ by X-Press 2 on Skint. In 2008 her new productions are recieving major club and radio support from an increasing number of tastemaker DJs such as Miss Kitten - who played 'Radical High' twice in recent set at Space : Ibiza - as well as Dubfire and Anja Schneider.
Currently, Nicole's 2008 release schedule is jam-packed. 'Radical High' is forthcoming as part of the 'Dark Side Of Summer EP' on Viva Music while 'Mirage' is set for release on Plastic City and 'The Slap EP' is forthcoming on Azuli. On the remix front, amongst other projects, Nicole has recently remixed two of the summer's hottest tracks in the form of 'Everthing's Gonna Be Alright' by James Doman and 'Chime' by The Shapeshifters. These remixes are available now on Positiva and Defected respectively. Also, look out for a guest mix on John Digweed's Radio Show coming up in November.
While she may be a hot new addition to the musical class of 08, you’d be mistaken for thinking her contribution to global dance culture lies only within the production arena. Her story began in her homeland of Lebanon where, as a promoter, Nicole became the first person to bring dance music to Beirut and provide big name DJs with a taste of the Middle East. Hosting an unforgettable party between a bombed out mosque and a church, Nicole proved that dance music had the power to unite, an ideology that's become all the more relevant throughout the years as the region faces more ethnic and religious strife.
Upon moving to London she ran Southeast Recordings, which became home to artists like T-Total, Christian Hornbostel and Tom Stephan, and spearheaded Soundworx at legendary London club Turnmills. Born in Ibadan (Nigeria), Nicole lived her early years in Lagos, before moving with her family to Lebanon. Her studies in London led her to get into clubbing and she began to travel. "I fell in love with house music in NY, hearing Junior Vasquez and Danny Tenaglia" says Nicole. "Since then I've traveled the world promoting and chasing the best parties, from Paris to Madrid, Amsterdam, NY, LA, London, Ibiza and beyond."
Now living between London and Ibiza, Nicole is looking forward to an exciting year: "I'm a creative, and I love to express this through all aspects of my environment – sound, vision, everything. Music is one element of what I do, its part of a wider, positive culture that I love, and I’ve seen firsthand in Lebanon that it has a unifying power to bring different people together – that’s probably the greatest legacy of acid house".
