The World Martial Arts Center associated with the Korean HapKiDo Federation is a school for serious martial artists, or those who wish to become masterful in the martial arts and in life.
“In fighting and in everyday life you should be determined though calm. Meet the situation without tenseness yet not recklessly, your spirit settled yet unbiased. An elevated spirit is weak and a low spirit is weak. Do not let the enemy see your spirit.”
Miyamoto Musashi
Sabumnim, Thank you for creating an extraordinary environment at WMAC. I learned so much at Hapkido Weekend and equally important I had a blast. Your team of instructors are top notch and I would like to thank them for pouring into us everyday. I wish you continued success and blessings.
I Am A Martial Artist
"I am a martial artist." I see through different eyes. I see a bigger picture when others see grey skies. Though many can't conceive it, I stand...facing the wind. My bravery, not from fighting, but from my strength within. I am a martial artist. I'll walk the extra mile. Not because I have to, but because it's worth my while. I know that I am different, when I stand on a crowded street. I know the fullness of winning, I've tasted the cup of defeat. I am a martial artist. They say I walk with ease. Though trained for bodily harm, my intentions are for peace. The world may come and go, but a different path I'll choose. A path I will not stray from, no matter, win or lose. -Karen Eden
there is a little old korean man who runs a laundry on my block. i bring my gi into him to have patches sewn on, pants shortened, and what not. he was very excited to learn that i study hapkido because he studied as a boy in korea. now, every time i see him on the street, his face peels back into this ginormous grin. he raises his right fist into the air and shouts "hap-ki-doooooooooo!!" this is our secret handshake.
