Olympic “Peace, Dignity & Respect” Walks
All Future Summer & Winter Olympic Games
The inaugural Olympic “Peace, Dignity & Respect” Walks took place on 08/08/08 during the opening day of the Beijing Olympics in China.
There were many walks conducted around the world on this "most auspicious" day to bring awareness to our friends who are suffering in Tibet & Burma. The Olympic Peace Walkers in Las Vegas also walked to honor our Native American friends who walked across the United States on the Longest Walk to share a message, "ALL Life Is Sacred! Save Mother Earth!"
The next Olympic "Peace, Dignity & Respect" Walks will be conducted on Feb. 12 - Feb. 28, 2010. We are calling the people of all nations to join in a unity peace walk around the world on February 12, 2010, during the opening day of all future Olympic Games, and to hold peace events during the entire 17 days. This harmonious unification of intention through our peaceful actions will create an inner feeling of oneness that we all can share.
This is a worldwide event that will bring us together as ONE. Families, friends, neighbors, communities & nations will join together to share our message of hope, joy, love, peace and harmony. We will share in the Spirit of Peace and the joy of the Olympic Games that brings us together in a celebration of life & sport.
The joining of several movements for an all-encompassing World Unity Peace Walk was borne by several of our Buddhist friends who have a vision of a peaceful existence for all of us. Given the current problems in the world, this event could not have come at a more opportune time. The world needs to join together in unity, in peace, without even uttering a word, for our actions will send a message and a shock wave across the globe that is loud and clear!
The Olympic “Peace, Dignity & Respect” Walk opening ceremony on February 12, 2010 in Las Vegas along the world-famous "Strip" will be led by sacred staffs of indigenous leaders from around the world. This will be followed by flags from all 192 nations, with representatives from each nation carrying their respective flag. We will also honor our veterans, police & firefighters by carrying several commemorative flags.
In honor of His Holiness Maharishi Mahesh Yogi (1917 – 2008), we will carry the Global Country flag of his Peace Palaces that will one day be flying in all 192 countries of the world. Peace Palaces are currently being built in 100 U.S. cities and 3000 cities worldwide that will offer a full range of Maharishi Vedic Science programs, including his Transcendental Meditation technique, which has been learned by more than five million people worldwide. www.MaharishiPeacePalaces.org
At the back of the flag procession, additional representatives from all Independent Indigenous Nations from around the world will carry flags from their respective nation, tribe or village. This will symbolize that native people worldwide are, in essence, the keepers of our planet. The presence of indigenous elders will inspire our youth by sharing their wisdom so we can walk the true path, and unite past, present and future generations.
Our vision is to hold UNN World Summit Talks in Las Vegas during all future Olympic Games in unison with the Olympic "Peace, Dignity & Respect" Walks. It is now time for all Indigenous Nations to take their rightful place among the nations of the world, and have a cohesive, influential voice in global affairs that indelibly impacts all of us. Their voice has, for the most part, been greatly ignored for far too long. www.UnitedNativeNations.org
Our intention is to invite representatives from the Mayors For Peace NPT coalition to meet with members of the United Native Nations Grand Council during the UNN World Summit Talks and Olympic peace events held in Las Vegas every two years. Talks about the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and programs that promote the solidarity of cities toward a peaceful worldwide coexistence will be important topics of discussion. Talks will further international public awareness and demand for the abolition of nuclear weapons and lasting world peace through the 2020 Vision and other global peace initiatives & activities. www.MayorsForPeace.org
We will conduct peace walks and sacred ceremonies in Las Vegas during the entire Olympic Games, with a four-directional sacred walk on the closing day of the world gathering. This will signify that the “Long Walkers, Peace Walkers, World Peace Walkers, Peace & Dignity Walkers, PDR Walkers, Gandhi Peace Walkers, Peace Pilgrim Walkers, Sunshine Peace Walkers & Olympic Peace Walkers” will then be encompassing the globe in our continuing efforts to bring peace & harmony to our planet until we meet again in Las Vegas in two years. www.WorldPeaceWalks.org
When we come together as ONE, we become stronger with each passing day. Let us walk, run or ride with the same intention for peace no matter where we are at that moment. For 364 days this moving symbol of peace will expand as it reverberates around the globe. Then, every other year, on the opening day of all future Olympic Games our Olympic "Peace, Dignity & Respect" Walks will unite the world through a spectacular demonstration of peace that will rejuvenate our spirit, and strengthen our resolve, as we continue forward.
Every four years, in addition to the peace walks and sacred ceremonies, we will have a spectacular celebration in Las Vegas similar to Woodstock, with the flavor of “Burning Man” for a “17 Days Of Glory” celebration of Life, Peace & Music. We will invite world leaders, spiritual leaders, dignitaries, celebrities, artists, entertainers, musicians, and hundreds of thousands of our brothers and sisters from all walks of life, from all corners of the globe.
What better time than the Olympic Games to host such an event. If you look throughout history, the Olympic Games is the single greatest uniter of people worldwide through a celebration of the human spirit on an individual, national & international level. This single greatest sporting event of all time brings joy & happiness to all of us. We have all experienced this at some point during our life, especially when an athlete brings honor, respect, hope & dignity to their people through their actions in the competition, win or lose.
"Konkachila: We honor you and our ancestors on our Walk of Life – may we all have a safe journey… Mitakuye Oyasin.”
Inwards, Outwards & Onwards…
