Resophonic guitar has its irreplaceable place in the history of pop music and its typical sound can be found almost in all music styles - country, bluegrass, Hawaii, blues, folk, jazz, rock, etc. This is one of the reasons why we - fans of this unique music instrument, the roots of which are in Slovakia where John Dopyera (1893–1988), the inventor of this instrument was born, decided to found an independent association called The World Resophonic Association (WRA).
THE GOALS OF THE WRA ACTIVITIES ARE:
*
a worldwide association of players, producers and fans of resophonic instruments (here after called RI).
*
the spread, support and promotion of RI.
*
informative services in the area of RI, especially the data base of members, players, producers, fans, etc., then the data base and filing of records and printed matters in the area of RI, the survey of RI types and models, etc.
*
the support of RI players and groups, co-operation with similar music associations and festivals all around the world and their support.
*
organization of festivals, concerts, RI workshops, etc.
Quite simply - We wish to unite interested folks and have a place to have resophonic sounds together!

My new live album "Tempo, musique pour calcaire et guitares" (music for limestone and slide guitars from a live concert in duet with Franck Kernel, stone carver) will be available for may 2009. I'm really happy with this project. You can watch a video (the last song of this 6 hours long work with interview) from this show here
In early October I wrote one of my latest songs, “Wall Street Bail Out Blues.” Within four days of writing it, a video crew captured me playing it on the street at Seattle’s Pike Place Market and posted the video on YouTube. That video has now reached the attention of a writer for The Wall Street Journal who is writing an article about those who have written songs about our tough economic times. His article will be published this week and I’m excited to read it.
Who knows where this might lead? Call me an optimist, but I have a feeling that this could mean that a few more seconds of that elusive fifteen minutes of fame might be coming my way.
It ain’t the cover of the Rolling Stone but it’s not every day that a writer from a major worldwide news outlet seeks me out to talk to me about my songwriting. That’s a huge validation of my efforts at staying true to my vision. I must be doing something right.
Wow! The World Resophonic Association!! It is an honour to be here!
I have just added some new dobro/reso tunes to my page. I would be stoked if you drop by for a listen...
The tunes feature my all Australian, all handmade, custom DeGruchy Squareneck Resophonic guitar. I would love you all to see and hear this beautiful instrument.
Merci pour l'ajout... si ça vous dit vous pouvez demander des invits pour le concert du 24 novembre à Villejuif... il suffit de cliquer sur la page...(à gauche..)
Hope to see some of you guys at my forthcoming Czech/Slovak tour!
