Despite the apparent abundance of clean water in the US and most of the developed world, more than 1 billion people around the world lack clean, safe drinking water and more than 2.6 billion lack adequate sanitation services.
World Water Day is an international day of observance and action to draw attention to the plight of the more than 1 billion people world wide that lack access to clean, safe drinking water. Celebrated since 1993, World Water Day was designated in 1992 when the United Nations (UN) General Assembly passed a resolution. With each passing year, the observance has grown larger and stronger.
Join us as we observe World Water Day 2008 by participating in one of the events planned in Seattle, Los Angeles or New York on March 22nd. More cities across North America will be added as the date approaches. For more information and to get involved, visit www.worldwaterday.net
Held on March 22, The Walk for Water is inspired by the example of women in “water stressed” countries who often have to walk six miles per day just to get water for their family. Join us as we take action to address this critical global problem.
If there is not a Walk in your area, you can join the global “Virtual Walk For Water”. We’ll include your name in a symbolic water jug to be carried by a participant in one of the local Walk for Water events.
Encourage your friends and colleagues to join your Walk for Water and help us in make a difference.

The Clean Water Restoration Act would restore the original intent of the Clean Water Act, the law that has protected our communities from pollution and cleaned up our nation's water -- water that our kids can play in, water that supports healthy fish and wildlife populations, and water that is free from dangerous pollution..

It is our goal to keep Animal Lovers notified of the happenings in this case, and to do everything we can to keep Ella's story alive, and honor her life. Her life must be celebrated, and her tragic death must not be forgotten.
We will use this myspace as a tool to keep you notified of the court case. From what I’ve heard, several of those on Ella's friends list plan on attending all of the hearings, and to do all that we can in order to make an impact on the Judge's ruling, so that this case is not just swept under the rug.

last year i decided to get sponsored for the walk. i wanted to be more than a walking visual aid to those unaware of the world water crisis. I didn't find out about the event till a week prior, so i had little time to find sponsors. But being a part of such a wonderful organization such as Rotary International makes special things happen.
Thanks to the support of Rotary, in just a few days i was able to raise $1400 for a well.
Because i had little time to imagine, i just did what i needed to do to get this project into action. You just gotta do it to make your dreams come true.
i had the money, i could've just sent it. but having the LOVE for travel as i do and the fact that i prefer to be as hands on as possible with my work, i decided to pay out of pocket to visit the water well site... and with the love and support of Rotary, i was surprised with a sponsorship for my travel expenses. wow! how excited i was. all i needed was the time to go...
Last week i got back from Mumbai, India. the well is set to be a few hours out of mumbai, aiding a girls school that currently has no running water. I'm so proud to be in the Rotary family. and so glad this event exists. Because of it i am able to tell this story now.
