Angel Sluts, The – Designer Heat CD (Wrecked-Em)
I was excited to get this disc for review, thinking, perhaps, that I was in store for some Hollywood sleaze rawk or maybe even some Mentors-inspired porn-punk. Well, what’s in a name? The Angel Sluts are rock ‘n’ roll of the illest kind: fast, loose, dirty, streetwise, jacked up on meth, and tailor-made to punch you right in the fucking mouth. Repeatedly. For reference, ponder these thoughts: The Stooges on 78rpm; Guitar Wolf cranked to 11 in your bathroom at 3 AM; The Dragons vs. Electric Frankenstein onstage together at the height of a 48-hour cocaine-n-beer binge; The Hellacopters hammering out their first couple of singles in the garage. The Angel Sluts "Designer Heat" : "Fuck Yeah!! This is fuzzed out, lo-fi fock 'n' roll the way I like it!! Thumping bass and drums and howling guitars abound on this, with slightly over-driven/distorted vocals covering all the requisite rock 'n' roll subject matter. This is highly recommended to all you garage rock 'n' rollers out there who are into bands like THE MAKERS, THE DRAGONS, ELECTRIC FRANKENSTEIN, LITTLE KILLERS, etc., etc."
