It feels like Worrier wasn’t holding back when they decided to make their first album, and neither should they have. There’s never a dull or empty moment, even in parts where there’s only kooky noises blaring. “I Am the River” keeps your interest at every second, with different voices coming from all directions and come great guitar riffs blasting you into another realm of music. "Milwaukee band Worrier certainly loves twitching drum patterns and a sense of cranky detachment, but the tracks it's preparing for an upcoming album aim for interplay that's uncommon in this decades stubborn trend of brooding-yet-danceable rock. Instead of jabbing in lock-step, Worrier's guitars, synths, and vocals patiently chirp, whisper, drift, and weave across channels, accomplishing as much in drumless breaks as in punchy outbursts. In that, it's not unlike Foals, the buzzing British group Worrier opened for on its last Madison stop. The difference is that Worrier seems interested in using its open spaces to fuller advantage."
