RGV- World Peace Alliance is in your extended network view more
About me: World Peace Alliance of the RGV was originally a youth administrated group, organized along principles of democracy, fairness and equality. We still organize on a variety of issues, mainly those of immigrant, peace and economic justice; ie: issues of equality. We still aim at raising consciousness in our community, and creating necessary relationships for change, while also taking direct action on the matters that effect us. We do not tolerate intolerance(ie: sexism, fascism, homophobia, racism etc.). In short, we are about Solidarity, Direct Democracy, Peace, Anti-Authoritarianism, Fun, and Love. Recently, we have become a very loose network of a variety of social justice causes and organizations dedicated to peace and equality. Contact us to find out how you can get involved, and let us know what your interested in changing in the RGV. Together we can build a better world.

This art show is a thank you to everybody who takes an interest in non-mainstream type art, dares to do something different and struts to the beat of their own drum. We have combined the hottest, most expressive art in the area for your viewing pleasure, we have also connected with a couple health organizations to promote healthy living and personal safety. No better way to beat the heat than with What's Hot!
Students for a Democratic Society of the University of Houston is calling for a protest at the T. Don Hutto Family Residential Center in Taylor Texas on Saturday March 7th. The T. Don Hutto Facility is a retrofitted medium security prison run by the Tennessee based Corrections Corporation of America, that detains pregnant women and women with children awaiting immigration court hearings.
This is a violation of the rights of children, a draconian false solution to the issues raised by human migration, a huge waste of taxpayer dollars going into the pockets of CCA shareholders, and a bad public policy, period. The intersection of xenophobia and anti-immigrant hysteria and the continual growth of prisons for profit is a threat to human rights. We can not sit by and allow private companies to profit of off the incarceration of children.
As part of the 100 actions in 100 days to end family detention we are calling on people and organization from throughout Texas to join us on March 7th in Taylor Texas at 11am at the T. Don Hutto Residential Facility 1001 Welch St, Taylor, TX 76574. Please get in touch if you would like to be listed as a co-sponsor.
SDS in Houston will be leaving from the University of Houston campus at 7:30am to caravan to Taylor. If you would like a space in one of our vans (we are also asking for a deposit for the rental), or to carpool with us, please write us an email SDSUHtx@gmail.com.

Wearing that shirt was embarassing but I used it as a tactic. I'm sure such an exagerated photo like that wouldn't have come out front page of our city's newspaper if I had done otherwise. So yes, laugh. Hahaha
Well apparently I was not looking hard enough for a W.P.A. chapter in the R.G.V.
Amazing, Thank you for accepting my request.
So, with that being said I look forward to meeting with any of you 15 days from now.
