About me:
Art Radio WPS1.org, the web radio station of PS1 Contemporary Art Center, was discontinued on December 31st, 2008. The Staff, the mission, and much of the programs have been transferred to Art International Radio, ArtonAir.org. Below, you can still find a brief history WPS1.
Art Radio WPS1 was an internet radio station that provided a 24-hour stream and on-demand archive of cultural programming. The station featured talk radio styled discussions and interviews with artists, authors, musicians, actors, filmmakers, critics, curators, poets, educators, journalists, media experts, and other cultural leaders, innovators, and challengers.
Art Radio WPS1 also broadcasted live from P.S.1 Contemporary Art Center annual summer warmup dj parties, which were also available free on demand in the archive. WPS1's archive contained over 1600 programs of music, talk, and historic audio. These included dj recordings by Norman Jay, Francois K, Ben Watt, Doc Martin, Danny Krivit, Jeannie Hopper, Pete Lawrence of the Big Chill (music festival), Paddy Boom of Scissor Sisters, Rekha, Bob Sinclair, Tim Lee, and many more.
