Wreckage is a Belgian Thrash Metal Band from Haaltert, aiming to bring back old school Thrash Metal back to where it should be, in the mind and hearts of all you headbangers out there !
The story starts in December of 2006. After having played in a few bands like Genocide and Deceiver (now called "Hyena"),
Bass Guitarist Davy Stuyck was set out to start a new band, and Old School Thrash Metal band, to be exact.
To do that of course, he needed to find musicians. The first one he met was Gilke Bisback,
a Lead Guitarist who had his fingers itching to play some thrash. They teamed up and found a drummer, Mikélé Heymans
(Kettersbloed, Anal Devastation), but that did not last long, Mikélé got offers from several bands who wanted to play the
music he loved more.
But their luck was just around the corner, as the then Genocide line-up was completely falling apart.
Brothers Glenn and Sven Maesschalk, were tired of how the way things were going at that time, they didn't have to think about
it long before they decided to join forces.
In February 2007 however, Lead Guitarist Gilke Bisback had to leave the band
due to circumstances, which left the rest of the band looking for a new Guitarist pretty early. They found the guy they
needed in Rajan Janssens (Ex-Juthika, Mindwar). In March they played their first gig in JH Avilo, with Rajan having learned
the songs in only 2 rehearsals. From then on they played gigs together with, and, supporting the likes of Opression (SWE),
My Own Mess (NL), Indemnity, Devastation, ...
In October of 2007 however, Rajan Janssens decided to quit the band, which left our young ragers Lead Guitar-less again.
That same month, they played the first edition of Scumfest with Hyena, Sanity's Rage and others, and a month later they
were chosen to support Raven (NWOBHM pioneers) in the Negasnoic Music Club in Aalst.
The start of 2008 still leaves Wreckage without a Lead Guitarist, but they are determined to keep on writing new stuff,
and playing as much shows as possible starting in March/April, and a first demo will probably be released in mid 2008.
