-------------------------------------------------------

“Few people can truly tell the tale of Los Angeles and even fewer stories are worth listening to. John Albert’s breakthrough memoir, Wrecking Crew, is one to be heard, told poetically through its soulful recounting of life’s blessings. Albert deconstructs the romantic lore of L.A.”
-Flaunt Magazine

-------------------------------------------------------

“An exceptional debut… For the first time in a long while, here's a book about baseball that actually feels like it's also about life -- or rather, life as it's been lived by so many of us born after, say, 1960… a quiet, hard-won and moving celebration.”
-Salon.com

-------------------------------------------------------

“Attention! All junkies! Failures! Dysfunctional L.A. Punk rockers! There is hope! Love! Baseball! And it is hilarious. I loved Wrecking Crew. It is my story too. John Albert put it all together, he is a great original voice from L.A.'s wasteland.”

RE: Review of new drug memoir

Hi John! nice job.

Always the challenge in memoirs in telling what others misconstrue as "truth" or "untruth" in a memoirs is better left untouched- there are legal realities including courts and the man, and then there are those baffling "realities" that we call personal interpretation, memory and it's lapses, stream of conciousness, and interesting narrative- all of which carry a story along- regardless of others' interpretations of truth. I don't believe there is such a thing as truth in any level of non-fiction memoir, history, or sociology tomes. If it's qualatative in any way, it defies quantative science, and thus is, um, ALL fiction.

Thanks for the link.I love your writing and I'm always happy to read it.

I gave the book to Marlon Wayans last weekend and he thinks the movie needs some "bruthas" in it. Can you see about that?

I can't believe it. Somebody stole your book out of the local library, and the librarian thought it was ME. That was three months ago!

Heh, I guess that means somebody liked it a whole lot, the greedy bastard.

This book still needs to be a movie. Dust off those options!
