From Wreck and Ruin, New Beginnings ...
Old friends, tried and tested; bands new, old, and a little in between; shared passions, objectives, subjectives?; a willingness to take the little spare time that we have and obliterate it.
These are a few of the circumstances that brought about the existence of Wreck & Ruin Recordings. Add to the above a need to play by our own rules (did we ever not?), do things our own way (ditto), and suddenly the idea of establishing a vehicle to facilitate the release of music close to our collective hearts made a whole bunch of sense.
Thus Wreck & Ruin Recordings was born.

Without further ado Wreck & Ruin Recordings are proud to present for release in October 2008 two beloved and unique recordings – the first official release in almost 10 years from the revered and seminal Australian abrasive yet melodic rock band MIDGET. And the debut album from the intricate, melodious, and dynamic CAPTAIN NEMO. And we're off and running...
CAPTAIN NEMO ‘Pendant’ (W&R001) – CD and Digital Release
The debut album from this Sydney/South Coast quartet. 9 songs of life, love, hope and regret; of hearts won, lost, and all points in-between; delivered via a mix of intelligent dynamics, infectious melodies, and a heartfelt and unique vocal delivery. The album was recorded in a community hall in the town of Coalcliff on the stunning South Coast of NSW. You can hear the isolation.
Featuring past and present members of bands such as Tweezer, Further, ukiyo-e, Hateman, Lustre 4, Little Death – an Australian music pedigree that’s impressive to say the least! - 'Pendant' is brimming with intelligence, intensity and finesse.
MIDGET ‘From Yr Head to Yr Hands’ b/w ‘$345 Speeding Ticket’ (W&R002) – 7” Vinyl and Digital Release
To the surprise and excitement of many Midget returned to the live arena in late 2007. After well-received NSW and VIC shows the band entered Megaphon Studios in July 2008 with producer and old friend Jonboyrock. A plan was hatched for the band to record and mix two songs in two intensive days... they walked away with three tracks in-hand. Such was the ease with which the band rediscovered their in-studio chemistry.
Two of these songs are featured on a limited run of 500 hand-numbered vinyl 7”s - a return to their favourite format - and comes with a free digital download to keep your iPod happy. The tracks prove Midget to be as relevant as ever ... Full of passion and raw emotion, this recording is the sound of a band in full control of its powers. With incredible artwork by Glenn Smith this makes for one mighty fine package of vinyl goodness.
