MySpace a place for friends

HOW IT ALL BEGAN:
In 1994, Nathan Lee moved to Nashville with his band after signing a small management deal. The first club they played was The Blue Sky Court, which is now The Rutledge. After years of playing clubs and traveling around the US, Nathan wanted a home base in Nashville where he could try out new songs every week and work out the kinks with his band. In late 2006, he did a show at the newly re-opened club where he had first played when he moved to town. There was no doubt that The Rutledge was going to be a place to call home. The venue, along with the staff, offers a place for any artist to do what they do and be who they are!

Following that first show back in late 2006, Nathan started a weekly series which invited the writers and bands he had worked with over the years to share the stage with him every Wednesday night. He didn't want it to be an event where people only got to hear a few songs from a bunch of artists. He wanted writers to bring their bands, play the songs the way they wrote 'em, and give them enough time to connect with the audience. He wanted them to have a place where they could work out their insecurities, a place to figure out what works and what doesn't for their music... a place where artists and bands could come together every week and work on their live show. Nathan Lee was once quoted as saying, "We all moved here to do music, so let's do it! Let's raise the bar high enough to make ourselves uncomfortable, and keep reaching for more. Let's hold each other accountable when it comes to our songwriting. It's time to do everything in our power to become better at what we do, and go a little deeper in who we are as artists and writers. If this is as good as it ever gets, I'd hate to say we didn't make the most of our moment and our music. It's time to encourage one another. It's time to build each other up. It's time to enjoy our lives. It's time to work hard! It's time to enjoy some great music... and there's no better time than NOW!"
