We appreciate your interest in taking part of the Jersey Shore's premiere songwriters night. All submissions received become property of Writers In The Raw and in no way guarantee a performing slot on any one of the shows. If we are interested, you will be contacted.
Writers In The Raw staff will not be able to respond to all submissions sent to us e-mail or snail mail (although we promise to try) and we take no responsibility for unsolicited material.
What we're saying is ... you won't get your package sent back to you, so make sure you want us to keep it.
Music has become so fractured that it has become a badge of division. WITR shows how when music is stripped down to its bare essence, what is left is the song.
It is the power of the song, which will illuminate the similarites - not the differences - between different genres of music.
Each show features four artists representing four different genres of music.
The "magic" of the show is what happens when you get artists, who - from a distance - seem to be so vastly different from each other, yet when performing their songs, RAW, without the band, effects, and other sonic influences that color the differences between artists and songs, we get to the core of the lyric and melody backed by the most minimal of chordal structure. Through this process, people are exposed to other genres of music and the craft of songwriting.
The bridge of understanding each other's music is not a leap. It is merely going back to the beginning and, as the foot begins to tap, a world of different boundaries easily melts away as everyone becomes unified through the song.
