About me:

The Wong Shun Leung way of Wing Chun Chinese Boxing.

The most accomplished master of the Wing Chun system was the late Wong Shun Leung who participated in numerous bare-knuckle fighting contests during the mid 1950's to the mid 1960's.

Wong Shun Leung established Wing Chun as a formidable fighting system, and it is his method of Wing Chun that is practiced at our Wing Chun Chinese Boxing Club.

What does training involve?

The bulk of Wing Chun training is centered on Chi Sau (Also known as "Sticking Hands") an dthe practice of three forms: SUI NIM TAO, CHUM KIU and BIU JI (There is also a wooden dummy form).

Chi Sau is a partner exercise that is designed to drill fundamental basic techniques, build coordination, sensitivity and powerful reflex responses.

Wing Chun's forms are a systematic set of movements that are designed to teach specific techniques and theory. Proper coordination, posture, balance and timing in a progressive and systematic manner. Classes are of a 90-minute duration.

How do i get started?

Simply come on in and take a free introductory training session. You may want to ask some questions, fill in a membership form and begin training at the next session!

What is Wing Chun Chinese Boxing Gung Fu?

Wing Chun is a close range fighting system. While being simple, direct and efficient, this system of martial arts is characterized by simple hand techniques, low line kicking, uncomplicated footwork and direct straight line striking.

The founder of the system was a woman by the name of Yim WIng Chun, who was taught by a buddhist nun, Ng Mui, of the Shaolin temple about 300 years ago.

The first person to teach Wing Chun openly in Hong Kong was the late Grand Master Yip Man. The late martial arts action movie star, Bruce Lee, also made teh system famous as WIng Chun formed the basis of his own system; Jeet Kune Do.
