Influences
Beatles, Rolling Stones, Warren Zevon, J. Geils, Leon Redbone, R.E.M., Dire Straits, Little Walter, Ron Elliot, Randy Burns, Al Anderson, Roger McGuinn, Tom Petty, Chris Smithers, Bob Dylan, and just about everything we've heard since we were kids!
Sounds Like
We've been told that we sound like Warren Zevon, Rolling Stones, J. Geils, Dire Straits. Some have compared us to Barenaked Ladies and even Meatloaf, for God's sake. Go figure!
Doctor X and I have been playing music together since we were in high school in our native Connecticut. We formed our first rock & roll band (Jumpin' Jiminy Blues Band) in the Waterbury area, where there was a small, but thriving music scene in the old "Brass City" (as it was known in its heyday). Anyone with any musical ambitions eventually had to move to greener pastures. Most gravitate towards New York. I headed for Boston after graduating from college, initially to look for a promising band that needed a bass player. Somehow I got sidetracked, and started doing a solo acoustic thing, performing in local clubs and coffeehouses, and doing the college circuit. It gave me a chance to more fully explore songwriting, and to develop my skills as a singer and guitarist. Doctor X followed a couple of years later after an extended cross-country adventure, and we resumed our musical career together as Willie T & Doctor X, performing mostly as an acoustic duo, and sometimes with a full band known first as Willie T & the Red Line Cruisers, and later as Hogs on Ice.
We made a couple of records (yes, real vinyl!) in the 80's that had very limited exposure on college radio stations, and limited distribution to local record stores. Of course, once everyone in town who knew us bought their copies sales plummeted drastically. This, alas, was the typical experience of most Boston bands before the Internet was invented. Now we sell CDs and digital downloads in far away places like Belgium, Australia, and the Philippines, and are being played on Internet Radio stations in such exotic locales as Bosnia-Herzegovina! We're not getting rich anytime soon, mind you, but it is very gratifying to see people from half way around the world buying our music, and it is especially nice to hear from them!
I am experimenting with the blog as a means of communicating both musical news about Willie T & Doctor X as well as my passion for political pontificating. You'll find that I am keenly interested in protecting our first amendment rights (media reform, net neutrality) in addition to sounding the alarm on other violations of our Constitutional rights, which have been seriously eroded in recent years. Music and politics seem to intersect frequently these days, and as these two worlds collide it makes for interesting times for independent musicians and free speech advocates alike. We hope you’ll check in often, and we hope that you will enjoy our music as well as my political rants. Please also check out our official website at www.WillieTandDoctorX.com, which provides a lot more information about us and provides links to online retailers where you can purchase our music!
Best regards,
Willie T
Willie T & Doctor X we started posting more "Evro Music" videos on YouTube. A lot of new songs are up. We recorded them on a cell phone, so the audio isn’t great. Here's the link, http://www.youtube.com/user/EvroMusic1 tell us what you think and leave us a comment on MySpace or YouTube. Peace out and have a good day! - EVRO
I will be playing The Taunton River Folk Fest, at Steve's Backstage Pass..in the center of Taunton Mass -- Sat night the 10th, at 11PM with Jim McGrath and Jim Bennet, and alone on Sunday night the 11th at 8PM. Not sure how close that is to you...should be a cool couple of days, maybe you remember Jim from the Exit days. Randy
Willie T & Doctor X we were recently featured on the ABC network and we are trying to promote our first full length album self titled EVRO. Check out the video and leave a comment to tell us what you think. Just warning you that the sound on the video isn’t the greatest quality but you can listen to the same songs on our MySpace page. Tell others! Thank you and have a blessed day!

Hey nice to hear from you! I do post on myspace and facebook when I gig and it looks like I'm definitely going to play BI this summer and I'm hoping to find a few gigs in the area, including Boston. I will definitely give you a holler.
If she came, she didn't introduce herself...it was a really nice gig, did have a terrific guy name Don who was a DJ during the 70s come in with Uncertain Lady for me to sign (funny, I don't even have a copy of that). If she lives in the New York area, I will be playing Jalopy in Brooklyn on the 21st, its a very cool venue. Too bad you can't make the 6th in New Haven, I think its going to be terrific, lots of people coming from New Haven and Block Island. I'm definitely going to play on BI this summer. Hoping to play your area soon, how about you any chance you'll be playing NYC in the future? That would be cool. Randy Burns
