W.T. Special plays Drunkabilly- a blend of honky tonk, rockabilly, bluegrass, folk, and elements of early sixties rock. This fivepiece calls Austin, Texas home and is making waves in a scene notoriously hard to get a foothold in. W.T. Special has earned a reputation for energetic performances, proffesionalism, and quality musicianship. The songs are appealing to folks of all ages and musical tastes. W.T. Special has independently released an E.P. and 2004's debut L.P. "From Stone" which have been selling well at the live shows.
The band is currently recording their second full-length album, set for release in the spring of 2006.
The band draws influences from some of the legends; Hank Williams, Johnny Cash, Lefty Frizzell, Merle Haggard, Led Zeppelin, Kevin Smith, Jason and The Scorchers, and Mark Rubin, to name but a few. The songs remain upbeat even when addressing the ins and outs that life so often brings.
"Soulful playing, rich harmonies, and great songs that engage and entertain, "From Stone" is a 38-minute feast of down-home gratification for your soul" -Boo Macleod Producer/Engineer at Pedernales
"From Stone" (SouthBound Trail Music), is equally memorable for its earthy point of view and fetching male-female vocal interplay." Christopher Gray- Austin Chronicle.
