Wunakina ist eine junge Band aus Klingenthal in sächsischen Vogtland. Unsere Instrumente reichen von der heimischen Mundharmonika über afrikanische Djembés (Trommeln) und das südamerikanische Cajon bis hin zum australischen Didgeridoo. Wir sind zwei Brüder - Max (Baujahr 1997) und Philipp (Baujahr 1991). Die Band besteht in dieser Form seit 2007. Wir präsentieren einen kunterbunten Mix von Weltmusik, Blues und keltischem Folk.
Der Name "Wunakina"
"Wunakina" kommt aus der Yolngu-Sprache der Aborigines im Arnhemland (Northern Territory, Australien) und bedeutet übersetzt "Feuer". Das Feuer soll für die Energie in unserer Musik stehen!
Biographie
Wir spielen beide die afrikanische Djembé seit 2003. Philipp spielt Didgeridoo seit 2005. im April 2007 begann Max, Mundharmonika (Bluesharp, später auch Chromatische Mundharmonika) zu spielen. Anfang des Jahres 2008 begann Philipp mit Cajon und Max mit Klavier. Wir haben bisher mit Bands zusammengespielt wie Hootin' the Blues (Country/Blues-Band, Deutschland), The Cluricaune (Irish-Folk-Band, Deutschland), The Clayton Miller Band (Blues/Rock-Band, USA), Caledonix (Celtic-Folk-Band, Deutschland), Kat Baloun & JG-Blues (Blues/Country, Deutschland), James Dolan (Mitglied von Wunakina für 3 Monate, Schottland/UK), ... Außerdem waren wir im August 2009 Vorband der Prinzen!
General information
Wunakina is a young band from Klingenthal - a small town in Saxony / Germany. Our instruments are didgeridoo, djembés, diatonic harmonica, chromatic harmonica, cajon and danmoi. We're two brothers - Max (year of birth 1997) and Philipp (year of birth 1991). Our band was founded in the year 2007. We present our listeners a combination of world music, blues and celtic folk.
What does "Wunakina" mean?
"Wunakina" is a word from the Yolngu language of the Aboriginal people in Arnhemland (Northern Territory of Australia) and means "fire". Fire stands for the energy in our music.
Biography
We play Djembé since October 2003, Philipp plays the didgeridoo since 2005 and Max began playing harmonica in April 2007. In the beginning of the year 2008, Philipp startet playing the cajon and Max began playing piano. We already played together with Hootin' the Blues (Blues band, Germany), The Cluricaune (Irish folk band, Germany), The Clayton Miller Band (Blues/Rock band, USA), Caledonix (Celtic folk band, Germany), Kat Baloun & JG-Blues (Blues/Country, Germany), James Dolan (he was a member of Wunakina for 3 months, Scotland/UK) ... and we had been the support band of the well-known German pop band "Die Prinzen" in August 2009!
