About me: We are The World War II Freedom Fighters Organization of the Permian Basin. Our goal is for all World War II Veterans of the Permian Basin to get a chance to visit the WWII Monument in Washington D.C. that was built to honor all of the heroes of World War II. Our youth of the Permian Basin wish to honor the veterans of World War II who gave of themselves so everyone could enjoy the Freedom's of today.
Students from the Ector County Youth Center and ECISD will escort the World War II Veterans of the Permian Basin to Washington D.C. where they will visit the memorial. The first trip was scheduled in May but has been postponed until September 13, 2008. We will be having more fund raisers in the coming weeks and months to pay for the trip. Travel will be free of charge for all WWII vets from the Permian Basin area. This trip is costing about $682 per person so far so we really need all the support we can get to help cover these costs. We have had some very successful events so far but we are still short of our goal. We need to raise about $120,000 to send all of our veterans to the memorial.
Thanks to the Odessa Roughnecks for honoring our Veterans during the Halftime show at the April 19th game. We collected $780 to help send the Vets to Washington!
Who I'd like to meet: All of the World War 2 Veterans of the Permian Basin and all over the world. Check out our website: WWIIFreedom1.org
