WYATT EASTERLING .. .. Long-time music industry professional Wyatt Easterling has most recently enjoyed the accomplishment of being a co-founder and the president of Spindletop Records. The independent label, Spindletop Records, boasts coming in second for most spins at radio for an independent label and Spindletop artist Brittany Wells placed fifth for new artist on an independent label for 2005 in Music Row Magazine's March 2006 edition. No small feat for an industry that has seen an explosion of new independent labels. Easterling has not only seen success as a songwriter, publisher, record producer, and major label A&R executive, but has enjoyed the success of building an independent record label from the ground up. At the beginning of 2006, Easterling stepped down from Spindletop Records to focus on record production and songwriting as well as to continue as Creative Vice President and partner/owner of Affiliated Publishers Inc. (API) and API Management. API has a twenty year history of publishing hit songs and managing hit acts. The songs range from the recent number one hit, "Beautiful Mess" by Diamond Rio, to million airplay songs such as, "I Like It, I Love It" and "Down On The Farm," by Tim McGraw, and "Bigger Than The Beatles" and "So Help Me Girl," by Joe Diffie. API has earned fifteen number ones to date and created a multi-million dollar song catalogue. The management division kicked off, developed and maintained the careers of Tim McGraw, Joe Diffie, Sons of the Desert, and Ty Herndon. Easterling currently has the title cut on the platinum album "Modern Day Drifter" with Dierks Bentley and Capitol Records. Prior to API, Easterling was partners with Miles Copeland (Sting, The Police, IRS Records) in the Nashville Division of Bugle Publishing Group and Firstars Management. There he served as Director of Operations, making huge strides in publishing and management. Easterling brought Keith Urban to Firstars and produced sides that landed Keith at Warner Bros. Records. He also produced sides on another Firstars client, Paul Jefferson, which secured him a deal at Almo Sounds. Of the sides cut on Paul Jefferson, one went on to become the number one smash for Aaron Tippin, "That's As Close As I'll Get To Lovin' You". Easterling brought alternative rock artist Paul Thorn into the company for management and publishing before producing Paul's album, "Hammer & Nail" for A&M Records in Los Angeles. Easterling was crucial in pioneering the very successful songwriter's retreat, Printempts de Troubadours held in France and hosted by Bugle Publishing Group. Some of the well known songwriters and recording artists who attended include: Olivia Newton John, Cher, Peter Frampton, Stewart Copeland (The Police), Carole King, Chris Difford and Glenn Tilbrook (Squeeze), Ted Nugent, Jon Bon Jovi, Jars of Clay, Ty Herndon, Bob Dipiero, John Scott Sherrill, Steve Seskin, Gary Burr, Mark Hudson, Paul Young, Drew Womack (Sons of the Desert), DC Talk, and numerous others. This event continues today with great success and is emulated by numerous other publishing companies throughout the world. Before his stint with Bugle Publishing Group and Firstar's Management, Easterling joined Rick Blackburn and Nelson Larkin in opening Atlantic Records as their Chief of A&R. He was responsible for signing artists John Michael Montgomery, Tracy Lawrence, Michael Johnson, and Neal McCoy to their roster. While at Atlantic, Easterling produced the multi-platinum debut album, "Life's A Dance" for John Michael Montgomery. To date that album has sold well over three million units worldwide. All his past experience compliments Easterlings creativity and dedication to the music. His administrative duties have given him a broad, insider's view of the 'business of music' as a whole. He literally has experience in practically every aspect of the music business and has learned how to achieve the ultimate goal: making money while making great music.
