As a marine life artist, I have dedicated my life to raising awareness about issues facing our world's waters. I began painting life-size murals of whales and
other marine life over 25 years ago to inspire people to protect and preserve our ocean. 100 "Whaling Walls" later, my mission has expanded to educate people
around the planet about the need to conserve all water resources and habitats. I realized that you can't save one body of water without thinking about the next -
you can't save the ocean without protecting our lakes, rivers, estuaries, and wetlands. I started the Wyland Foundation in 1993 to encourage environmental
awareness through public art, classroom education, and community events. By sharing our knowledge of the need of clean water and the interconnectedness of
the world's waterways, we can have a lasting global impact.
I had a
phone meeting this morning with Jennifer Johnson @ Sea Shepherd
headquarters and it went very well! She was most impressed with my
proposal and we discussed a few things.
It turns out that Sea
Shepherd has been wanting for a while to get a SSCS chapter organized
in California and this is our ticket for finally doing so.
She
is going to be speaking to her supervisor today who is based here in
California and share with her my ideas for SSCS California and a
benefit show.
This is very exciting! Jennifer is forwarding my
contact info to her supervisor now and will be calling me this
afternoon. How exciting!
To everyone who has offered their
help no matter where you live please keep my email address so I can put
you on my mailing list for updates and planning once I get official
word from Sea Shepherd.
