WYLDE GREEN were formed by Irish man Davey Keogh in 1996. they soon built up a very enthusiastic following all over the south west and stretching up to the midlands. Davey learnt to play music at the age of eight and did his first perfomance at the age of tenat a session in the Bridge House Hotel Tullamore in the Co. Offaly.Shortly afterwards his famley resettled in Birmingham UK where he lived untill the age of 24 playing in his indie band called the SURF DRUMS. He then left Birmingham to follow his dream of surfing which he did for several years all over the world supported by performing his songs. Davey now plays seven instruments which are guitar, mandolin, mandola, bazouki, bodhran, tenor banjo and the highland pipes which he includes in his solo performances under the name BLACK JACK DAVEY. Wylde Green have gone on to play with some of the top names in Irish music from the world famous, grammy award winning band, The Chieftains to the Irish rebel band the Wolftones plus Mary Black and Andy Irvine to name but a few. They have released six albums to date and an anthology will be released in a few weeks featuring the best of Wylde Green along with some rare footage of the band performing live all on the one Cd / DvD .
At the moment Davey is recording a new album under the name Black Jack Davey which is to be released late september on Crocadile music and titled THE LEGEND OF BLACK JACK DAVEY . it follows the story of one of davey Keogh's ancestors who escaped the hangman's rope in 18 century Ireland to become a card shark on the paddle ships that sailed the Missisippi Delta and was a resounding cad, murderer and not very nice person.

Once drove an old sedan, up north, From a place in Sydney to Cairns; Then to Kuranda I went forth, By train, to look without set plans.
I browsed through the trendy market, With fresh fruits of tropical kind; Walked to the creek through lush thicket - Nature’s hand giving peace of mind.
I dined in a scenic cafe; Then, outside, as I wrote for yen, Some passing Kooris called-out: “Hey, You go walkabout with your pen.”
Request or question, I don’t know - Assured voices, elderly men. That’s now several years ago, And I’ve seen the world - with my pen.

See....you weren't listening.....A hen's on the left, a cock on the right.... So if you fancy a hen - get a left hander. If you fancy a cock, Christ, best be careful how you phrase it. People could get the wrong idea. You need to keep the good name of Black Jack Davey, not Slack Jack Waveym so best ask for a Cock Pasty, nothing more.... Take care mate, and if we don't make it tomorrow, have a great gig...See you soon, cheers
Just to say thanks for yet another memorable evening on Thursday mate, and to let you know that a Hen pasty was spotted at Tesco Roborough, and a cock pasty spotted at Lidl, Crownhill. Be quick and you night get one....... Will try to make it Sunday if at all possible, work permitting - failing which will see you next time round. Phil
