The characters that form the group X3i are individuals in a community of human beings, known as Rifes, who exhibit extraordinary abilities. Each character possesses a power unique to him or her. In its early stages, X3i was a “campaign” of sorts to create a community amongst these special members of the population; however, with the government and other external forces working against them, this new community becomes the world’s most elite fighting force. The name X3i is of significance because in the initial campaign stages of the project, there were thirteen nationwide X3i headquarters. The headquarters maintained by this group is located in a fictional city called Canaan.
The Series:
The main focus of the X3i series was the beginning phases of X3i in the combat stages. Coming into the story, the characters RIVEN, ARSYN, CARBON, and REIGN are all early registrants with the X3i project who are “called” into a sudden mission to prevent what could be a catastrophe for “progressive human” affairs. ARSYN and CARBON enter the show as seasoned professionals, both having been former agents for the government in secret early Rife programs simply named Black Ops. The details behind these Black Ops. Remain shrouded, probably due to mandatory secrecy or personal reasons. It can be assumed that the characters were forced to do questionable things.
The characters of Riven and Reign are quite the opposite, both being combat novices. What they do have in common is an extraordinary amount of potential, even more than most Rifes, in terms of their powers. Reign is a very cautious and grounded character in these early episodes. RIVEN is eager to jump into the field and test the limits of his abilities in ways that he has never had the opportunity.
The conflict of the first two episodes is the original four members of X3i going head to head against a group of Rife terrorists known as MANPower (Formally led by KHALIF SAVIDGE, who is now a member of the current X3i team). MANPOWER has infiltrated the headquarters of a human corporation known as PARAGON that specializes in developing and manufacturing weapons technology. A massacre ensues that X3i fails to prevent, but the team still manages to defeat MANPOWER, at least long enough to make a narrow escape. For all purposes, the first mission is a complete failure. At episode three, X3i enters a “SECOND GENESIS” phase where the team is depicted approx. two months after their initial conflict with MANPOWER. The main focus of this part of the series is the “retaliation” of PARAGON. PARAGON, on top of having been assaulted by RIFES, holds a heavier grudge because they view these super powered beings as a threat to their business. Thus, there is the creation of the SCOURGE. Using cybernetic technology, PARAGON creates super soldiers with a hive mind trait that takes their tactical abilities to the max. At the head of this hive mind is SHIRE, the most powerful of all the SCOURGE who proves to be more than a match for X3i.
SECOND GENESIS also sees the introduction of a new rife team of heroes and the inclusion of new X3i members. REBEL 7 ( Gnosis, Messenger, Gabriel, Cadence, Delta, Wright, Stasis, Skiver) is a team formed of former X3i registrants who create a new underground team in order to avoid the dangers of being associated with X3i (After the first debacle against MANPOWER). However, this tactic proves futile as PARAGON discovers, infiltrates, and attacks the team assuming that ALL Rifes are dangerous. During this attack, the REBEL 7 team makes a reluctant connection with the estranged X3i for assistance. ARSYN, CARBON, and RIVEN (with more advanced powers and training) answer that call. REIGN has left the team for further training herself. During this two-episode conflict, the majority of the REBEL 7 team die, leaving WRIGHT, MESSENGER, and GNOSIS, who all join onto X3i.
Due to scheduling conflicts, the production on the X3i Series, meant to last through seven episodes, ended at four. A second season, already with finalized scripts, was also scrapped due to time restraints. The creators and production team decided, instead, to focus their efforts into a feature length film to tell the story of X3i and fill in any story gaps left by the missing episodes. What was meant to take place in episodes 5 through 7 is as follows:
The new X3i team takes a long recovery period from the trauma caused by the SCOURGE attacks. During this time, X3i enters a rescue operations stage to attempt to save various Rifes across the city, who are being targeted by the SCOURGE. CHARLATAN is a new character brought into the fold. ALSO, former MANPOWER agents KHALIF SAVIDGE, DEMIZE, AZURA, and CALIBER are on the list of persons to rescue. KHALIF SAVIDGE is reluctantly taken onto the team while bizarre occurrences lead some members of X3i to suspect a traitor (WRIGHT).
It becomes increasingly apparent that Wright is a traitor working for PARAGON after a series of “dummy” missions ead several factions of the X3i team into strange situations with more or less no significance or, in some cases, unexpected conflicts. The team, now broken up, is forced into conflicts with new, dangerous rifes also on PARAGON’s payroll. RIVEN and CHARLATAN encounter former MANPOWER member HARBOR, now with more advanced weaponry. GNOSIS and MESSENGER encounter the wind manipulating DERRING. ARSYN, CARBON, and KHALIF, after discovering that WRIGHT has abandoned the base, fight ANNEX, a villainess who steals energy to increase her own strength. LATER, GNOSIS and MESSENGER have a second encounter with DELTA, the shape shifter who betrayed their former team. During this time REIGN returns, it is revealed that CARBON and KHALIF have arranged a support team of the recovered MANPOWER members, SHIRE and the SCOURGE have “taken out” the other 12 X3i bases, and ARSYN is the bearer of a “mark,” which is a class and power indicator in the Rife community.
AFTER some debate and an inside tip from GALEN’s assistant COOPER, the X3i team decides to take the war to Paragon’s doorstep. Using their reserve Manpower members, a plan unfolds that leads to conflict with SHIRE, The SCOURGE, various security personnel, and GALEN himself. SHIRE and the SCOURGE are defeated and killed, but GALEN manages a narrow escape, although he is assumed dead when Cooper’s body is mistaken for his own. KHALIF and DEMIZE become full time X3i members, CHARLATAN leaves the team for a “simpler” life, and the new, struggling X3i team finally acquires government recognition, resources, and funding.
THE MOVIE
Divinity, the title of the X3i official movie, is meant as a follow up to the series. Until the movie is finalized and released, details in this section are slim to none. All that can be guaranteed is the expected appearances of old and new characters and the usual mix of drama, action, and special effects.
