Often likened to Jewel and Tori Amos, singer/songwriter Xanda Howes music is moving, poetic and contemporary in a timeless fashion. Her debut album, And How, received widespread critical acclaim and she is currently recording her second album.
Despite sounding like the lyrics from that Human League song, Xanda Howe really was discovered while working as a waitress, but not in a cocktail bar. Songphonic Records boss, Osman Kent, was a regular diner at the restaurant where Xanda worked during college holidays, and was persuaded to hear her demo.
Osman then invited her to record some tracks at his studio and was so impressed that he offered her a development contract on the spot. Xanda was mid-way through her degree at the time but, deciding the opportunity was too good to miss, she quit Bath University and spent a year writing, recording and gigging with her band.
Born in South Africa, her family moved to the UK when she was 3 and settled in Surrey. Xanda has been entertaining audiences from a very young age, singing, acting, playing sax & guitar, and always wanted to be a performer. She is also a trained actress and aerobics teacher. Full of energy and girlish charm, she can't wait for her first world tour and dreams of owning a wardrobe full of Jimmy Choo shoes.
Xanda has performed at the legendary Ronnie Scotts club in London and the British Radio Academy Awards.
